Chapter 604 Exploring the Cave and Hidden Dangers

Chapter 604 Exploring the Cave and Hidden Dangers

Lin Yu stood at the cave entrance, his brow furrowed as he gazed at the flickering energy fluctuations. He knew that entering rashly might trigger unknown dangers, but the mission to find the third key was urgent and allowed no room for retreat. "Everyone, activate your energy shields to maximum power and proceed with caution," he whispered, before stepping into the fluctuating energy field first.

The moment she stepped into the cave, a wave of damp, foul-smelling air hit her, making her almost nauseous. The cave was pitch black, so Ellie quickly turned on the lights. The pale light flickered in the darkness, illuminating the strangely shaped rocks around her. These rocks seemed to have been twisted by some mysterious force, their surfaces covered with eerie patterns.

"This place feels eerie, everyone stay close." Xiao Wang gripped his weapon warily, his eyes constantly scanning their surroundings. They proceeded cautiously along the winding passage, watching their step carefully with each movement, lest they trigger a trap. Suddenly, the passage widened, revealing a huge cavern. In the center of the cavern was a stone platform emitting a faint blue light, upon which something appeared to be placed.

"Could that be the third key?" Ellie exclaimed excitedly, about to rush forward, but Lin Yu grabbed her arm. "Be careful, it might be a trap," Lin Yu said, carefully observing the cave's surroundings. Sure enough, he discovered some faint mechanisms on the cave walls, which could likely be triggered if they got too close to the stone platform.

Just as they were pondering how to avoid the traps, a rustling sound suddenly came from behind them. They immediately turned around and saw a group of ghostly creatures slowly emerging from the darkness. These creatures were semi-transparent, emitting an eerie green glow; their faces were obscured, only their blood-red eyes were visible.

"What are those things?" Xiao Wang cried out in terror. Before Lin Yu could answer, the mysterious creatures let out sharp screechs and pounced on the group. Lin Yu quickly opened fire, but the energy beams passed right through the creatures without causing any damage.

"Normal attacks are useless against them!" Lin Yu shouted, his heart filled with anxiety. He quickly observed the creatures' movements and discovered that they seemed to be quite sensitive to light; whenever the light from the lighting equipment shone on them, their movements would become sluggish.

"Everyone, focus your lights on them!" Lin Yu shouted. The team members immediately did as instructed. The intense light severely restricted the movements of these mysterious creatures, who struggled in the light, emitting painful hissing sounds.

Taking advantage of this opportunity, Lin Yu began to think about how to break the mechanism. He noticed that there seemed to be some kind of energy connection between the mechanisms on the cave wall; if he could disrupt this connection, he might be able to shut down the mechanism.

"Ellie, can you analyze the energy connections of these mechanisms?" Lin Yu asked. Ellie quickly took out her equipment and began scanning and analyzing the mechanisms. "I'm trying. These circuits are very complex, but I think I've found a key node." Ellie nervously operated the equipment, sweat dripping from her forehead.

Meanwhile, though limited by the light, the mysterious creatures continued to struggle and approach. Their numbers grew, gradually surrounding the group. Xiao Wang shone light on them while shouting, "We can't hold on much longer! There are just too many of them!"

"Hold on a little longer!" Lin Yu shouted, his eyes fixed on Ellie. Finally, Ellie shouted, "Found it! As long as we fire an energy wave of a specific frequency, we can interfere with the node and shut down the mechanism." With that, she quickly adjusted her weapon and fired an energy wave.

As the energy wave was emitted, the mechanisms on the cave walls emitted a rumbling sound and slowly stopped operating. "Success!" the crowd cheered and rushed towards the stone platform. However, just as they were about to reach the platform, the cave ceiling suddenly cracked open, and countless sharp stone pillars fell from the sky, blocking their path.

"Damn it, another trap!" Lin Yu shouted angrily. Faced with these numerous dangers, will they be able to break through the stone pillars and successfully obtain the third key, or will they be trapped in this perilous cave?
