Chapter 18 Exploring the Spirit Pearl
Chapter 18 Exploring the Spirit Pearl
Based on ancient records, Xuan Yuanche and Su Yao determined the approximate location of the five spirit orbs. Legend has it that the first spirit orb is located deep in the Misty Forest in the north, a mysterious and dangerous place, shrouded in mist year-round, rarely visited by humans, and home to various ferocious beasts and unknown traps.
They embarked on their journey with a carefully selected team of guards. Upon entering the Misty Forest, the light dimmed abruptly, and the fog clung to them like ghosts. Su Yao clutched a simple map tightly in her hand, a rough sketch she had pieced together from various sources; though not detailed, it was better than nothing. Xuan Yuanche, meanwhile, drew his sword and warily scanned their surroundings.
Reaching the edge of a swamp, the ground suddenly began to tremble, and several enormous earth-dwelling beasts crawled out of the mud, baring their fangs and claws as they pounced on the group. The guards quickly formed a circle and engaged the beasts in battle. Xuan Yuanche moved with agility, his sword flowing like a dragon, each strike precisely aimed at the beasts' vital points. Su Yao observed the beasts' attack patterns from the sidelines, directing the guards to coordinate their attacks, some drawing the beasts' attention while others seized opportunities to strike.
After a fierce battle, they finally repelled the earth-walking beast. The group rested briefly before continuing deeper into the forest. As they progressed, the trees grew denser and the fog thicker. Finally, they arrived at an ancient ruin; the map indicated that the Spirit Orb might be located within it.
The gates of the ruins were tightly shut, and the surrounding area was covered with various strange runes. Su Yao carefully studied the runes, discovering that they seemed to be related to some ancient code. After some thought, she tried touching the runes in a specific order. Suddenly, the gates slowly opened, and an ancient aura wafted out.
The passage was riddled with traps and mechanisms. Xuan Yuanche cautiously led the way, with Su Yao close behind, her eyes constantly scanning their surroundings. As they reached a passage, the stone slabs on the ground began to glow, followed by a hail of arrows shooting from both sides of the walls. Xuan Yuanche quickly pulled Su Yao behind a large rock, and the guards also sought cover. Su Yao observed the rhythm of the arrows and discovered a pattern. She directed the group to quickly pass through the passage at specific time intervals.
After passing through the passage, they arrived at a huge tomb chamber. In the center of the chamber was a stone platform, on which rested a box emitting a faint light. Su Yao slowly approached the platform, and when she opened the box, a crystal-clear spirit pearl appeared before her eyes, surrounded by a faint halo, as if it contained powerful energy.
After successfully obtaining the first spirit orb, they rushed to the Flaming Mountains in the south to search for the second one. The Flaming Mountains were unbearably hot, with lava flowing between the mountains and erupting from time to time.
During their ascent of the mountain, they were attacked by fire spirits. These fire spirits were small in size but agile, manipulating flames to attack the group. Xuan Yuanche circulated his inner energy, forming a shield around his body to resist the flames. Su Yao searched for usable materials nearby and found a heat-resistant ore. She ground it into powder and sprinkled it on the fire spirits, temporarily weakening their power. The guards seized the opportunity to launch an attack, and after a fierce battle, finally drove away the fire spirits.
Continuing deeper into the mountains, they found a clue near a volcano. According to the clue, the second spirit pearl was hidden in a cave at the bottom of the crater. Xuanyuan Che, along with his guards, slowly descended to the bottom of the crater using ropes. The cave was steaming hot and filled with a pungent smell of sulfur.
At the end of the cave, they discovered a huge lava pool, with the Spirit Orb floating above it. Xuan Yuanche attempted to grab the Spirit Orb using his internal energy, but a powerful wave of heat forced him back. After a moment's thought, Su Yao realized she could use the principle of magnetic fields. She instructed her guards to find some special metallic ores and arrange them around the pool in a specific pattern, creating a simple magnetic field. Under the influence of this magnetic field, the Spirit Orb slowly rose from the lava pool and was collected by Su Yao.
At this time, they received news that the strange phenomena within the country were worsening, causing widespread panic among the people. Knowing that time was of the essence, Xuan Yuanche and Su Yao quickened their pace in searching for the remaining spirit orbs, setting off towards the mysterious eastern seas to explore the whereabouts of the third spirit orb. In those mysterious seas, they would face raging storms, sea monsters, and many more unknown challenges, but they would not back down, for they bore the mission of saving their country and its people.
