Chapter 226 Ghostly Creatures
Chapter 226 Ghostly Creatures
Under the guidance of the little beast, the trio walked forward along a winding path. As time went by, they gradually moved away from the place where they had fought before and came to the edge of a dense forest. The trees here were tall and towering, with branches and leaves blocking out the sun. The sunlight could only shine through the gaps between the leaves, forming mottled light and shadows.
Just when they thought they could relax their vigilance for a while, the surrounding environment suddenly changed. The atmosphere in the forest became more and more oppressive, and the air seemed to be frozen. The little beast once again issued a low warning sound, and this time the sound was more urgent than ever before.
Chen Xian stopped and signaled Yaya and Xiaoshou to hide. He felt an ominous atmosphere in the air, as if something was approaching quietly. He clenched the spirit sword in his hand and glanced back and forth among the trees.
Suddenly, a group of ghostly creatures emerged from the shadows of the surrounding trees. Their translucent bodies were almost invisible in the sunlight, and only when they moved did their vague outlines appear. These creatures made low groaning sounds and slowly surrounded the three people.
"What are these?" Yaya asked in a low voice, with fear in her voice.
"I don't know, but they're obviously not friendly." Chen Xian replied, his eyes fixed on the creatures, trying to find their weaknesses.
These creatures began to speed up and attack them. Unlike the previous black eagles, these ghostly beings had no entity, and the spirit sword seemed unable to harm them. Chen Xian tried to swing his sword, but the blade passed through their bodies and had no effect.
"We need to find a way to deal with them!" Chen Xian said loudly, trying to find a countermeasure. At this moment, he noticed a detail: whenever these creatures were exposed to sunlight, they would make painful cries, as if they were very sensitive to sunlight.
"Yaya, look for anything reflective!" Chen Xian said anxiously.
Yaya immediately understood what her brother meant, and she began to search in her bag. Fortunately, she found a small mirror. Chen Xian took the mirror and used the principle of sunlight reflection to shine strong light on the creatures. Sure enough, when the sunlight was reflected on them, the creatures screamed in pain and began to retreat.
The little beast also showed a new ability at this time. It began to make a special call, as if to attract the attention of these creatures. With the cooperation of Chen Xian and the little beast, they successfully opened a safe passage to the center of the forest.
"Hurry, let's get through this forest now!" Chen Xian urged. They quickly passed through the woods, and although the creatures were still chasing them, they were able to get rid of these ghostly creatures with the help of sunlight and the special abilities of the little beast.
When they finally walked out of the forest, they looked back and found that the creatures had disappeared. Chen Xian breathed a sigh of relief and looked at the little beast gratefully, "Thank you, without you, we might not have been able to escape."
The little beast wagged its tail, as if responding to Chen Xian's thanks. Yaya said excitedly, "It seems our little beast has more surprises waiting for us!"
When they finally escaped from the pursuit of the ghost creatures, Chen Xian, Yaya and Xiaoshou all breathed a sigh of relief. However, this brief peace did not last long. Soon after passing through the forest, they came to a vast plain, in the center of which stood an ancient ruin. The ruins exuded an ancient and mysterious atmosphere, and seemed to hide countless secrets.
Just as they were about to approach the ruins, the ground suddenly shook, and then a group of huge stone monsters emerged from deep underground. These stone monsters looked like giants made of rocks, and their skin was so hard that it seemed to be able to withstand any attack. Every step they took would cause the ground to tremble.
"This...what is this?" Yaya's voice trembled.
Chen Xian frowned, "It seems that what we have to deal with is not just a ghost."
The gargoyles approached them slowly but steadily, each one larger than the previous Black Hawk. It was clear that these creatures were far more powerful than the Black Hawk, and there were more of them as well.
"We must think of a way. A head-on fight won't work." Chen Xian said, while observing the surrounding environment, looking for terrain advantages that could be exploited.
The little beast seemed to have sensed the unusualness of the enemy this time. It no longer took the initiative to attack as before, but stayed beside Chen Xian and Yaya, as if waiting for an opportunity.
Chen Xian suddenly had an idea. "Yaya, do you remember there is a river on the way we just came? If we can lead them there, maybe we can use the water flow to weaken their power."
Yaya nodded in agreement. So Chen Xian and Xiaoshou began to use various means to attract the attention of the gargoyles, while Yaya was responsible for guiding them from a safe distance. The gargoyles were bulky, but not lacking in intelligence. They quickly saw through the intentions of the three and began to disperse, trying to prevent them from escaping.
After some maneuvers, Chen Xian and Xiaoshou finally succeeded in leading some of the gargoyles to the river. When these gargoyles stepped into the water, their movements became slower, as if they were affected by the current. Chen Xian seized the opportunity and used the energy shock waves released by the spirit sword to successfully destroy the structures of several gargoyles.
However, the number of gargoyles was still large, and they seemed to be learning how to deal with the three people's strategy. The battle became more difficult, and Chen Xian and Xiaoshou had to act more cautiously to avoid being besieged.
During the battle, the beast showed another ability - it could emit a high-frequency sound wave, which could disturb the balance of the gargoyles and make them lose their center of gravity. This ability became the key to turning the tide, allowing them to defeat these powerful enemies one by one.
After a long and arduous battle, the last gargoyle finally collapsed. When the dust settled, Chen Xian, Yaya and the little beast all collapsed to the ground exhausted.
