Chapter 102 Hope of the Village
Chapter 102 Hope of the Village
"Doctor Li, I've been feeling dizzy these past few days. Am I sick?" A middle-aged man walked into the clinic, looking a little nervous.
"Don't worry, Uncle Zhang, sit down first, I'll check you." Li Mei smiled, her tone gentle, like a spring breeze.
Uncle Zhang sat on a wooden chair, his eyes revealing a trace of anxiety. "I am getting old, and my health is getting worse and worse. I am really afraid that one day I will not be able to survive."
"You're only in your 50s, don't think too much." Li Mei picked up the stethoscope, gently placed it on Uncle Zhang's chest, and listened carefully to his heartbeat. "You've been too busy at work recently, haven't you? High stress can also cause dizziness."
"Yes, there is a lot of work in the fields recently, and I can't handle it all by myself." Uncle Zhang sighed, with a hint of helplessness in his eyes.
"Well, take some rest and don't overwork yourself. I'll prescribe some medicine for you, and come back for a follow-up visit after you take it." Li Mei took notes carefully, and then handed Uncle Zhang a prescription.
"Thank you, Dr. Li." Uncle Zhang took the prescription gratefully, and the tension on his face eased a little.
At this moment, there was a sound of hurried footsteps outside the door. The little girl Xiaofang ran in breathlessly, her face full of anxiety. "Doctor Li, come quickly, grandma fell down!"
Li Mei immediately put down her work and rushed out with Xiao Fang. "Don't worry, take me with you!"
Xiaofang led Li Mei through the alley and came to her door. Inside the house, the old lady was lying on the ground, her face pale and very weak.
"Grandma, what's wrong with you?" Xiaofang hurriedly knelt beside her grandmother, tears welling up in her eyes.
"I... I'm fine, I just fell." The old lady raised her head slightly and tried to comfort Xiaofang, but her voice was so weak that it was almost inaudible.
"Let me see." Li Mei squatted down and carefully examined the old lady's leg. "Does it hurt?"
"A little bit, Doctor Li. My old bones are hurt pretty badly." The old lady smiled bitterly, a hint of helplessness in her eyes.
"Let me check you out, and maybe take an X-ray." Li Mei said as she gently helped the old lady up and slowly moved her to the bed.
"Thank you, Dr. Li." The old lady held Li Mei's hand gratefully, tears glistening in her eyes.
"You're welcome. First of all, we have to ensure your safety." Li Mei responded gently, secretly deciding in her heart that she must take good care of the elders in this village.
After some examination, Li Mei confirmed that the old lady's leg was not broken, but just sprained. She prescribed some anti-inflammatory and painkillers, and told Xiaofang: "Take good care of grandma and don't let her move around too much."
Xiaofang nodded, her eyes full of determination. "I will, Dr. Li, I will take good care of grandma!"
"That's good." Li Mei smiled, feeling relieved. She knew that she was not only treating patients, but also conveying warmth and care.
As time went by, Li Mei's medical skills became more and more sophisticated, and the villagers trusted her more and more. Whenever a villager came to see a doctor, Li Mei always listened patiently and made careful diagnoses. Her efforts paid off, and the villagers' health gradually improved. The villagers praised her as "the hope of the village."
One evening, Li Mei sat on a bench outside the clinic, thinking about the past period of time. Her heart was filled with a sense of accomplishment. Just then, the village old man Zhang came over with a smile on his face.
"Doctor Li, I heard that you cured a few more patients. That's amazing!" Old Zhang patted her shoulder, his eyes full of approval.
"Thank you, Old Zhang. Actually, I was just doing my duty." Li Mei replied modestly.
"You are such a good doctor, little girl. Our village is so lucky to have you!" Old Zhang smiled, his eyes revealing his admiration for Li Mei.
Li Mei smiled slightly, feeling warm in her heart. She knew that her efforts were recognized by everyone, which made her more determined to move forward.
"I will continue to work hard to make more people healthy." Li Mei said firmly, with a glimmer of hope in her eyes.
"We all believe in you, Dr. Li!" Old Zhang said loudly, his voice echoing in the village.
"Brother Hua, how are your preparations for today?" Chen Fang walked over from a distance with a bright smile on her face and a basket of fresh vegetables in her hands.
"Sister Fang, I'm ready. Today we must let the people in the village know about our store!" Liu Hua responded excitedly, with a determined light in his eyes.
"You are such an energetic young man!" Chen Fang smiled, with admiration in her eyes. "I believe you can make this small shop a great success."
Liu Hua nodded and vowed to himself that he would make the store an indispensable part of the villagers' lives. They walked to the front of the store, where a new sign was hung at the door with the words "Liu Hua's Small Store" written on it, which was particularly eye-catching.
"Look, this sign is well made, right?" Liu Hua pointed at the sign proudly with a smile on his face.
"Very good! This calligraphy is really impressive." Chen Fang praised, her eyes sparkling with longing for the future. "We want to make this the most lively place in the village!"
"Yes, I have prepared some goods and am waiting for the villagers to come today." Liu Hua said excitedly.
Soon after, villagers came to the store one after another. When they saw the newly opened store, they stopped and showed curious expressions on their faces.
"Oh, Liu Hua, you opened a shop!" Old Li walked up to him, his eyes full of surprise. "This is great news!"
"Thank you, Old Li! Welcome, there are a lot of new things today." Liu Hua greeted warmly, feeling extremely proud in his heart.
"Let me see what good stuff there is." Old Li walked into the store with a smile and looked around.
Chen Fang was busy tidying up the shelves. When she saw Old Li coming in, she immediately went to greet him: "Old Li, what do you want? We have fresh vegetables and some groceries here."
"I want to buy some flour and salt." said Old Li with a smile on his face.
"Okay, please wait a moment." Chen Fang quickly prepared the necessary items for Old Li, with quick and skillful hands and feet.
"This little shop is really nice. It has a complete range of products and the prices are reasonable." Old Li said with satisfaction. He took the items and felt relieved.
"Thank you, Old Li, you're welcome to come often!" Liu Hua smiled and saw Old Li off, feeling a sense of accomplishment in his heart.
As time went by, the store's business became better and better, and villagers came to patronize it. Liu Hua and Chen Fang were very busy, but they always had smiles on their faces.
"Brother Hua, business is really good today!" Chen Fang said excitedly while sorting the goods.
"Yes, it seems that everyone likes our store very much." Liu Hua nodded, feeling satisfied.
"I think we can get some new goods to attract more customers," Chen Fang suggested, with wisdom gleaming in her eyes.
"Good idea! I will go to the city to purchase goods and try to enrich the variety of products in the store." Liu Hua responded immediately, his heart full of enthusiasm.
Just then, a young girl came in with a hint of shyness on her face. "Liu Hua, Chen Fang, can I help here?"
"Of course, you're welcome!" Liu Hua said enthusiastically.
"My name is Xiaoyu. I heard that your store is great and I want to study here." The girl's voice was soft, with a look of longing in her eyes.
"Great, with you joining, our store will be more lively." Chen Fang smiled, feeling relieved.
With the addition of Xiaoyu, the atmosphere in the store became more lively. Liu Hua, Chen Fang and Xiaoyu worked together, and the business of the store was booming. The villagers also liked this warm little store more and more.
