Chapter 31: Exploring the Secrets of the Ancient Village
Chapter 31: Exploring the Secrets of the Ancient Village
Liu Hua smiled slightly, looked down at the colorful flowers, and responded: "Yes, these flowers look particularly bright in the sun. Did you know that in ancient times, these flowers had many meanings. For example, violets symbolize loyalty, and roses represent love."
"Oh, I see." Chen Fang raised her head, her eyes sparkling with curiosity. "Do you think there is any special story behind the road we are walking on now?"
"Maybe there is." Liu Hua narrowed his eyes, as if thinking, "This road leads to the ancient forest outside the village. I heard there is an ancient legend there about a hermit and his treasure."
"Hermit? Treasure?" Chen Fang's eyes lit up. "Tell me quickly, what kind of legend is it?"
"Legend has it that this hermit practiced here and accumulated countless wisdom and wealth. His treasure is not only gold and silver, but also the knowledge and experience he has learned." Liu Hua said slowly, with a sense of mystery in his voice.
"Then let's go look for it!" Chen Fang said excitedly, with an expectant smile on her face, "Maybe we can find something interesting."
"Good idea! But before that, we have to find that ancient forest first." Liu Hua pointed ahead and continued walking forward.
After walking for about half an hour, the trees on the roadside became more and more dense, and the sunlight cast mottled light and shadows through the leaves, as if entering a world isolated from the world. Suddenly, Chen Fang stopped, pointed at a thick old tree, and exclaimed: "Liu Hua, look, that tree seems a little unusual!"
Liu Hua looked in the direction of her finger and found some blurred words engraved on the trunk of the ancient tree. He walked forward and took a closer look, with a smile on his face: "These are the words of the ancients. It seems that there is really some history here."
"Can you understand it?" Chen Fang asked curiously.
"These words roughly mean 'Guardian Tree', as if to warn people not to disturb the peace here." Liu Hua explained seriously.
"Then should we be careful?" Chen Fang frowned slightly, feeling a little nervous.
"Don't worry, we are just here to explore and we won't disturb anything." Liu Hua comforted, his eyes sparkling with excitement for the adventure.
Continuing forward, Chen Fang and Liu Hua finally arrived at the entrance of the ancient forest. The trees were towering into the sky, with lush branches and leaves. The sun shone through the treetops, casting mottled light and shadows, as if entering a mysterious world. The two smiled at each other, feeling excited.
"What do you think will be here?" Chen Fang asked, eyes full of anticipation.
"I hope to find some ancient relics or traces left by hermits." Liu Hua said, his eyes wandering around.
At this moment, Chen Fang's eyes were attracted by a stone tablet. She walked over quickly and saw some ancient patterns and a few lines of words engraved on the stone tablet. She gently stroked the stone tablet with her hand and exclaimed: "Liu Hua, come and see, there are words here!"
Liu Hua walked forward and carefully observed the words on the stone tablet, frowning slightly: "This is an ancient text, which probably means 'the wise leave their names, and the world will remember them'."
"The wise man left his name? Is the hermit this wise man?" Chen Fang asked excitedly.
"It's very likely." Liu Hua nodded, his eyes gleaming, "We may be able to find more clues from here."
"What should we do?" Chen Fang couldn't wait to explore further.
"Let's write down these words first, and then keep going inside. Maybe we can find more clues." Liu Hua said, and started to take out a notebook from his bag.
The two began to carefully record the words on the stone tablet, and time passed quietly in their concentration. At this moment, Chen Fang suddenly heard a subtle sound, like a whisper coming from deep in the bushes. She was slightly startled and asked in a low voice: "Liu Hua, did you hear it?"
Liu Hua stopped what he was doing, listened attentively, and nodded: "I heard it, it sounds like someone is talking. Let's go and take a look."
The two walked cautiously in the direction of the sound, passed through the dense forest, and finally saw an old stone house in an open area. The stone house was half-hidden in vines, looking mysterious and ancient.
"Is this the hermit's residence?" Chen Fang stared at the stone house intently, his heart full of anticipation.
"Very likely." Liu Hua walked slowly towards the stone house and pushed open the heavy wooden door. The door creaked, as if telling the vicissitudes of time.
The light in the room was dim, and the walls were covered with ancient scrolls and calligraphy and paintings, exuding a faint scent of ink. Chen Fang walked into the room excitedly, looked around, and couldn't help muttering, "This place is so magical!"
Liu Hua was carefully examining the scrolls. Suddenly, his eyes stopped at a painting that depicted a white-haired old man with a smile on his face and a book in his hand. Liu Hua's heart moved and he whispered, "Is this the legendary hermit?"
"It looks like he is waiting for something." Chen Fang was also attracted by the old man in the painting and was filled with awe.
At this moment, the wall of the stone house suddenly shook slightly, as if something was quietly changing. The two looked at each other, their hearts filled with surprise and uneasiness.
"Have we really discovered the hermit's secret?" Liu Hua whispered, with a spark of adventure in his eyes.
"We must figure out everything here." Chen Fang said firmly, with a passion for exploration burning in his heart.
"Are you really going in?" A deep and concerned voice came from behind her. It was her friend, Li Ming, who was always worried about her adventurous behavior.
"Of course! Don't you think this place is mysterious?" She turned around, her eyes gleaming with excitement. "We may be able to discover some historical relics or even ancient secrets!"
Li Ming hesitated for a moment, frowning. "But this place looks dangerous. We don't know what's inside."
"I know, but how can we know if we don't explore?" She smiled, as if her courage could infect Li Ming. "You are always so cautious, don't you want to give it a try?"
Li Ming sighed helplessly, but finally nodded. "Okay, but we have to be careful."
The two approached the ancient tomb and pushed open a half-open stone door. An old smell emanated from inside. There were vague patterns carved on the walls, which seemed to be telling an ancient story. She gently touched the carvings with her hands and felt a power from ancient times.
"These patterns seem to be some kind of sacrificial ritual." She whispered, her eyes sparkling with curiosity. "Look, there is a person holding something in his hand, and there are animal patterns next to it."
Li Ming came forward and observed carefully. "I remember seeing a similar pattern in a book. It might be a symbol of faith of a certain tribe. Do you think we should go deeper?"
"Of course! We can't stop here." She said firmly, turning and walking deeper into the tomb.
As they went deeper, the air gradually became colder, and the darkness around them seemed to swallow up all the light. The internal structure of the ancient tomb was complex, the corridors were tortuous and deep, and some broken objects were scattered around. Her heartbeat accelerated, and she was both excited and nervous.
"This place is really mysterious." She said softly, and her voice echoed in the empty tomb.
"I'm a little uneasy." Li Ming's voice was low, as if warning someone. "We really should be careful."
"Don't worry, Li Ming, we'll be fine." She smiled slightly, trying to ease his nervousness. At this moment, her eyes were attracted by a flashing object and she immediately walked in that direction.
"Wait a minute!" Li Ming held her hand, "We should observe the surroundings first."
At this moment, the wall of the ancient tomb suddenly gave off a low vibration, dust fell down, and the whole tomb seemed to be shaking. She and Li Ming looked at each other, and the feeling of uneasiness in their hearts became stronger.
"Hurry, go!" Li Ming shouted, pulling her hand and running towards the exit.
However, the structure of the ancient tomb was complex, and they lost their way in the darkness. The walls around them seemed to be constantly changing, the passage became narrower and narrower, and the sense of oppression became stronger and stronger.
"What should we do?" Her voice trembled and fear was in her eyes.
"Don't panic, follow me!" Li Ming gritted his teeth and insisted, trying to stay calm. They groped in the dark and finally found a passage and rushed out.
Just as they were about to reach the exit, a loud noise was heard from behind, and the stone door of the ancient tomb slowly closed, as if warning them not to enter again.
"Quick!" Li Ming pushed the stone door open with all his strength and finally escaped at the last moment. The two men fell to the ground, still reminiscing about the thrilling experience.
"We...we really escaped." She was panting and her face was pale.
"This adventure is really crazy." Li Ming breathed a sigh of relief, but there was worry in his eyes. "Do you want to come back again?"
"Of course! That's the fun of adventure." She smiled slightly, with a determined gleam in her eyes. "But next time we have to be better prepared."
Li Ming shook his head helplessly, but a smile appeared on his lips unconsciously. "As long as you are here, I will stay with you."
