Chapter 356: Dark Eyes (Part )

"Brenhill, I think we can use a gentler approach. Luca might get hurt." The blind girl whispered in a low voice.

The archer continued to aim the arrow at the prisoner: "Don't worry, I know my limits and won't shoot at any vital points. It will only hurt a little."

"Eh..." Conan wanted to stop him, but the archer had already released the bowstring.

The rapidly shot arrow hit the prisoner's waist accurately, causing the prisoner, who was clinging to guard No. 26, to twitch all over, then fall to the ground while holding his waist.

"Brother Luca?" The little girl poked the prisoner with a branch beside her.

However, the prisoner was completely motionless, as if he had fallen to the ground. This made the archer a little panicked: "That's not right. My arrow has been specially treated. As long as it doesn't hit the eye, it shouldn't cause any harm, right?"

The blind girl squatted down and touched the prisoner's back, breathing a sigh of relief. "He just fainted. I think it's from overwork. Luca really needs a break. He wasn't in the best of spirits after getting off the plane. Mr. Charles hopes he can rest for a while and not get involved in anything...dangerous."

Conan keenly perceived the meaning behind the blind woman's words: "A dangerous thing? Does that mean there is indeed a hidden story behind Professor Lorenz's death?"

"Stop, stop, stop, you kids, are you going to let Luca lie on my carefully mowed lawn? Hurry and take him back to the house!" Crazy Eyes, leaning on his crutches, ordered Guard No. 26 to help. "No. 26, go move Luca back to the house."

"Receiving orders: transport." Guard No. 26 said in a mechanical voice. "Glad to be of service, Bang Bang."

Conan watched in amazement as Guard No. 26 pulled out a bunch of balloons from his chest, inflated them, and then tied the prisoner underneath the balloons, causing him to float away. Guard No. 26 also gave the little girl a cute yellow balloon.

"Balloons, for Alice, Bang Bang."

"Thank you, Bangbang, let's send Brother Luca back first." The little girl took the balloon.

"Continue to follow the instructions." Guard No. 26 continued to move forward, holding the balloon with the prisoner hanging on it.

[Prisoner: Ugh, my kidneys!]

[Mechanic: Does it really hurt? Didn't Brenhill have an arrow installed?]

[Forward: He must be faking it. Don't try to trick me into going to OB.]

[Aviator: What's it like to sleep in a balloon?]

[Meteorologist: You'd feel insecure if you didn't have your feet on the ground.]

[Jack: Maybe this "no-feet-on-the-ground" ability only applies to being pulled by a balloon? You both have the ability to fly!]

[Antique Dealer: The manor is now full of creatures capable of flying, diving, and diving, from Cthulhu gods to three-year-old children.]

[Philanthropist: Our Oletus Manor is truly full of talented people and is thriving.]

[Lawyer: How many days have you not showered? You really should go to the bathhouse and steam yourself.]

[Crybaby: Robbie is more than three years old. Robbie should be... Robbie forgot...]

[Spider: Ah, Robbie, don't cry, don't cry. Everyone remembers your birthday every year.]

[Reporter: Although there are many misfortunes in our world, we can still gather together for warmth in the manor.]

[Novelist: Alice...]

Soon, the prisoner was placed on the sofa in the living room. The novelist, entomologist, explorer and composer in the living room seemed to be discussing something.

The composer pointed at a few photos and said, "This absolutely doesn't make sense. If Professor Lorenz really died in an experimental accident, then wouldn't the body look too strange?"

Conan moved closer to the center of the discussion. On the table were the case files and photos of the scene. "Let me see too."

"The deceased's body was found in the burned-out laboratory. The cause of death was cardiac arrest caused by electric shock. Lightning-like marks were left on the body after experiencing an overload of current... The deceased's body had burns from a previous experimental accident, but there were no obvious burns left by the fire..."

"Since the deceased had a previous accident caused by experimental error, it is determined that this was also an accident..."

After reading the file, Conan was a little confused: "The local police closed the case so quickly? This case is obviously full of doubts. If the fire was caused by an experimental accident, then why are there no fresh burn marks on the body, only scars caused by electricity?"

"This fire was most likely set by the real murderer. It's even possible that the laboratory wasn't the primary crime scene. As for the experimental equipment, it must have been tampered with. But why... why was the case closed like this?"

"Conan, who do you think has the ability to block the news when they know the truth may not be what they are told?" The explorer supported his chin with one hand on the table.

The entomologist added: "They have considerable influence in the local area, and are able to put pressure on the police."

"Mellodi..." Conan understood who was the mastermind behind the scenes.

"However, while the Melodi family may be covering up the truth, they're not necessarily the murderers," the composer said, pointing to another photo. "They may be helping the real murderer clean up the mess."

Conan looked at the photo, which showed a special image remaining on the burnt laboratory wall. The image looked like a cross pattern with a cat's eye as the center.

"This pattern looks familiar." Conan thought about where he had seen it before. "Oh, look at it, doesn't it look a bit like the one above?"

Conan pulled out the photos he had taken in Lakeview Village. Among the patterns painted on the faces of the believers were similar to this style. "Could it be related to the sect behind the Oletus Organization?"

"A religious sect?" the novelist held up the photo. "If it's a religious sect, why would they target a physics professor who's definitely not a believer?"

"No, perhaps the Oletus Organization's sect is a little... peculiar." Conan recounted his experiences in Lakeview Village. "Also, Uncle Orpheus, your old friend Professor Luchino is also in the Oletus Organization. He's currently researching how to transform humans into lizardmen, and he seems to have a belief in both God and science..."

[Professor: What turns humans into lizard people? This is a great evolution!]

[Noisy: Oh, don't be so angry. Don't bother with a child.]

[Joker: Kid? Is there a possibility that you're older than me, Mike?]

[Savage: That's true, Mike is indeed a few years older than Jack.]

[Spider: Violetta thinks that because Mr. Joke always has a sad face, he looks more mature?]

[Spellcaster: Age is a strange thing.]

[Cowboy: Indeed, you see Jose has an uncle face, but he is actually only twenty-five years old, younger than Frederick.]

[First Mate: I'm in my twenties and already have the charm of a mature man. Isn't that good?]

[Mercenary: Fine, fine, we're all approaching our thirties now.]

[Professor: Thirty doesn’t seem too old.]

[Priest: Jose is mature, Frederick is delicate. Age can't determine everything. After all, the ages of the supervisors are difficult to calculate.]

[Soul of the Umbrella (Black): So should we count the life span of the living or the life span of the dead?]

[Antique Dealer: Strange...]
