Chapter 310: The Noisy Finale (Part )
"So one of the five people must die first before the real 'performance' can begin?" Conan stared at Oletus and the others with some anger.
"Yes, sometimes it's even necessary, right, Kevin." The speaker was the sorcerer, and she was obviously recalling something.
The cowboy answered, "I don't regret it. I don't want to be trapped in that kind of guilt again."
The first mate sighed, "Our fifth group was completely torn apart by that poisoned wine."
"Group 5?" Amuro Toru was a little surprised. "So, you all participated in Group 5's experiment and survived?"
"Well," the first mate propped his chin up in his hand. "Technically, the only survivors of Group 5 are Patricia and I."
"Heh, after I found out the truth, I really couldn't help but want to punch you. You're a relative who got admitted because of your connections." The cowboy hit the first mate's shoulder in dissatisfaction.
"Wait, you said the only survivors were you and this lady? But this gentleman is still alive, what's going on?" Amuro Toru was confused.
"The Manor's definition of 'death' may differ from yours. Furthermore, the Manor does possess the technology to restore 'memories,' but it's still incomplete."
Just when a group of people were still discussing memory-related technology, the door of the castle was kicked open.
The man was breathing heavily, holding the wall with one hand, his eyes fixed on the people sitting at the dining table.
"What's going on?" The cowboy stuck his head out and tried to see what was happening at the door.
Then the figure rushed to Fool Gold and the bartender at an extremely fast speed.
"Where's my...food?" the figure said with some resentment.
Only then did Conan and the other two see clearly that this person was a mercenary (the man in red).
The mercenary's appearance at this time was completely different from usual. His skin was pale, and white luminous bacteria were spreading on his face and chest. The tips of his fingers had turned dark red, and even his hair was dyed white.
"Mr. Naib?" Conan stared in amazement at the mercenary who seemed like a completely different person.
The mercenary stretched out his hand to stop Conan from asking any further questions. Conan noticed that the mercenary's fingernails had also turned black and red, and looked like they had been seriously infected.
"Why didn't you leave me with food when you locked me in the lab! Do you know how hungry I am now?" The mercenary almost shouted into Fool Gold's ear.
Fool Gold knocked his head. "Stop yelling! I can hear you! Didn't I leave you those nutritional injections when I left? That's enough for a week!"
"It's awful," the mercenary said confidently, his arms crossed over his chest. "I couldn't stand it after eating it twice."
"Well, Naib, why don't you come over here and have some cookies first, so you don't starve." The prophet spoke while huddled in his seat.
"Thanks, brother."
Then everyone watched as the mercenary poured a plate of cookies on the table into his mouth, chewed them twice, and then picked up a whole pot of black tea handed to him by the Air Force and drank it.
"You've been hungry for a few days..." The air force looked at the mercenary wolfing down his food, with cold sweat on his forehead.
The mercenaries then ate the prophet's oak cake, the professor's cheeseburgers and steaks, and the air force's canned food.
"I feel comfortable now."
The mercenary finally recovered from his grumpy state after eating something.
"Mr. Naib, are you undergoing some kind of experiment?" Conan finally asked the question he hadn't had time to ask just now.
"This is a prototype of COA-VII. I originally wanted to try and see if it could make him eat less, but it obviously failed." The professor looked at the empty plate in front of him with a helpless look on his face.
"But my recovery ability has greatly improved, you see."
In front of everyone, the mercenary hit his hand with a dinner knife. In just a few seconds, white mycelium filled the wound and healed the injury.
"This..." Toru Amuro and Shuichi Akai both looked at the mercenary in disbelief.
Conan approached the mercenary: "Are these mycelium harmful to the human body?"
The mercenary stretched out his hand, and white mycelium spread out. Conan tried touching it a few times and felt the same touch as the mushrooms he usually touched.
"It should be harmless, but it will become inactive soon after leaving my body." After the mercenary cut off the connection of the mycelium, the mycelium quickly turned into charred black and became very fragile. It crumbled into powder with a slight pinch.
The professor grumbled unhappily, "It's only because of your high physical strength that you can control these hyphae. An ordinary person would have been turned into fertilizer long ago."
It seems that this medicine cannot be used on ordinary people. Akai Shuichi and Amuro Toru both breathed a sigh of relief. If this thing was discovered by the military and used in war, it would probably be very troublesome.
"Okay, Naib, you should have a good rest these days. Those mycelium can be camouflaged. Remember to disguise yourself as a normal person before going out. Also, stay away from Florian. Be careful that he might light your mycelium on a whim." The professor smiled.
[Fire Investigator: I really want to try it.]
[Puppeteer: No, you don't.]
Professor: If you were among those in the caves beneath the Seven Miles of the Abyss, we would have been blown to death by you before we could even meet the Lord of Disaster.
[Composer: Explosives are prohibited in confined spaces!]
[Antique Dealer: He'll be in the Nine Miles of the Abyss. I want to see what tricks you can come up with.]
[Fire Investigator: Hey, I will definitely live up to everyone's expectations.]
[Ms. Farrow: No one is complimenting you!]
"Okay, okay, it's time to start the next phase of the experiment. Turn on the surveillance cameras in the venue. We'll deal with everything after the experiment is over." Fool Gold touched his forehead and expressed his helplessness.
Afterwards, Fool Gold took Conan and the other two to a place that looked like a surveillance room. There were large screens everywhere, but many of the cameras were black.
[Air Force: I never thought the equipment we use for watching battles could be used like this.]
[Mechanic: Hey, I did a little modification so these screens can connect to Mr. Balk's flight monitors.]
[Crazy Eyes: This is a full-scale, no-blind-angle shot.]
[Deer Head: Valletta, I'm here to pick you up. Would you like some hot tea?]
[Spider: Valletta thanks Mr. Bane.]
Afterwards, Fool Gold left the room after pointing out that there was a food delivery passage in the room. Conan, Shuichi Akai and Toru Amuro sat in chairs and looked at the still dark screen in deep thought.
Time soon came to nine o'clock in the evening, and the monitor screens finally lit up one by one. The surveillance at the gate showed acrobats, dancers, crying clowns and savages entering the gate of the roller coaster starting station of Moon River Park.
The Weeping Clown carefully brushed the snow off the dancer's coat. The Savage called his companions to take a walk outside. The acrobat sighed, "Sure enough, this is the only stage that belongs to us."
Conan, standing in front of the monitor, was very surprised: "Is this Moon River Park? Oritis Manor actually rebuilt an identical one?"
"It's really shocking that such a venue was built just for the so-called experiment." Shuichi Akai exclaimed as he looked at the monitor.
"I wonder what they will be asked to do when they get to the venue?" Amuro Toru thought silently.
