Chapter 135 Azoth's Theorem Proof (Part 3)
The professor's smile was now quite sinister. "Many people knew about the collaboration between Fool's Gold and Nightmare back then, but after the turmoil at the manor, Nightmare disappeared somewhere. This expert in drug research is absolutely a master at escaping."
[Novelist: No dragging down or criticizing!]
[Fool's Gold: You're the only T4 among all the ID supervisors, just bear with it.]
After receiving a large amount of information, Conan pondered the current situation and decided to focus on the issue of the Azoth Library. "That night watchman, I remember him saying his name was Itakuya. Is Helios his code name in the library?"
The professor nodded. "Using the name of the Sun God as a nickname is very consistent with the style of this 'Eclipser'."
"Then why did he kill his own brother?"
"This is a complicated question. I suggest you ask him directly why. I'm not in a position to explain."
"Then do you know the secret passages in the library?"
"I'm not sure, but the three people who live here regularly should know. Maybe the Puppet Master and the Night Watch are trying to win over Fool's Gold right now."
After thinking for a long time, Conan asked the last question: "Does the Philosopher's Stone really exist?"
The professor shrugged. "I don't know. So far, they've only produced half-finished products, and the truth they seek isn't necessarily the real answer."
Just as the two were about to return to the office, a sound like an earth-shaking movement was heard. Conan immediately realized that this was the power of Fool's Gold. He looked at the shaking bookshelves around the hall and was very worried about Xiaolan's safety.
Soon, others also ran out of the office and came to the hall.
Xiaolan supported the blind girl who had difficulty moving and looked at the wall that still did not stop shaking. She asked nervously, "Is it an earthquake?"
The blind girl denied it: "No, I feel like these vibrations seem to be coming from underground. It's very likely that there is a dark room underground, and someone is making some noise there."
Toru Amuro thought for a moment, then began to feel every detail along the wall. When he pushed a movable brick, an entire wall of bookshelves slowly slid away, revealing the entrance to a secret passage.
This secret passage has two branches. After thinking about it, everyone decided to let Toru Amuro and Kogoro Mori go to these two branches respectively, and the others stayed where they were and be alert for the next vibration.
The frail blind girl sat down against a pile of books. Ran looked into the dark passage and silently prayed for Toru Amuro and Kogoro Mori. Conan stared at the professor, trying to get some information from him, but the professor's face was always calm and without any flaws.
[Blind Girl: They've already separated, so should we proceed as planned now?]
[Puppeteer: I'm ready.]
[Fool's Gold: I have no problem with that either.]
[Night Watchman: I have no problem with that. I'll come in once you give me the signal.]
Amuro Toru walked down the hallway into a brightly lit chamber. Inside were numerous biological culture jars, seemingly filled with alchemical products in human form. The further he walked, the uglier his expression grew, as rows of petri dishes behind him held numerous alchemical products with identical humanoid faces.
A small dark figure ran past Amuro Toru's feet. He looked closely and saw that it was Louis, who had been left behind when everyone ran into the hall. Louis trotted all the way to the side of a tall figure.
"This is the second time we meet, Mr. Amuro." The puppeteer, wearing an orange alchemist costume, greeted Toru Amuro.
Amuro Toru looked at the puppeteer with a wary look on his face: "What is the purpose of the Oritis Organization?"
What caught Amuro Toru's attention even more was that the puppeteer he saw before should have had a fairly large burn on his face, but now this scar was replaced by an orange-yellow alchemical substance.
"Director Philemon, the purpose of your experiment can't be to remove the burns on your face."
The puppeteer frowned. "The codename Philemon is the only one of all the director codenames that is related to thought and consciousness. As you can see, human body modification and bio-alchemy are my areas of expertise. Creating a scar-free body is easy, but creating a new creature with independent consciousness is extremely difficult."
Upon hearing this, Amuro Toru glanced at Louis, standing beside the puppeteer. He felt the little creature wasn't very capable. If a fight broke out, he'd first knock the puppeteer down, then take Louis back to the Public Security Bureau to investigate. As for the Black Organization? It would be best if they didn't know about such sensitive experimental materials.
Thinking of this, Amuro Toru suddenly attacked. The puppeteer seemed to have no reaction at all. Only when Amuro Toru's fist was close to him did he have time to open his eyes wide in surprise.
With a snap, the puppeteer was unharmed due to his external characteristics, but Amuro Toru's hand was hurt.
"Does violence really have to be the solution?" The puppeteer shook his head. "The product of alchemy is far more powerful than you imagine. At least in a physical fight, you won't have much of an advantage."
Seeing his offensive was ineffective, Toru Amuro wondered if he could take advantage of the chaos to obtain some information. However, his intention was seen through by the puppeteer: "I advise you not to wander around until our experiment is finished."
The puppeteer pressed a switch and the door of the secret room closed quickly, giving Amuro Tou no chance to react.
"Don't worry, underground secret rooms like this are equipped with ventilation vents. You won't die from suffocation due to lack of oxygen." The puppeteer's expression remained calm.
"This secret room is very soundproof. Can we have a proper conversation now, Mr. Public Security?"
On Kogoro Mouri's side, he also saw a secret room at the end of the passage. Rows of shelves were filled with various minerals, and fool's gold appeared in front of him.
"Don't pretend in front of me, Kaito Kid?" Fool Gold sneered and revealed the disguise of the person in front of him.
Seeing that it was an old acquaintance, Kaito Kid immediately took off his disguise: "Oh, I didn't expect to see you here, Uncle Stoneman."
Fool Gold silently took out his pickaxe and said, "Call me uncle again, and I'll break your legs."
Kaito Kidd immediately fell silent.
"Let me make it short. The Philosopher's Stone hasn't been refined yet. You're going to return empty-handed this time."
Kaito Kidd was not too discouraged: "Ah, I just listened to those two guys and came here to try my luck. If nothing works, then nothing works. It seems I still have to look around for my target."
Kaito Kidd turned around and tried to run away, but was caught by Fool Gold: "Why are you in such a hurry to leave? Where do you want to go?"
Looking at Fool's Gold's strange smile, Kaito Kidd was a little trembling: "Well, uncle, ah, no, Director Mars, you are not angry because we used your ore for experiments, are you?"
"Why would I get angry over such a trivial matter? You are an expert in your field. These minerals in my collection have been lying dormant here for a long time. It's a rare opportunity for an appraiser to come. You wouldn't be unwilling to show your appreciation, would you?"
Kaito Kidd was sweating profusely: "I think it's not enough..."
Back in the hall, the blind girl said to Xiaolan apologetically: "I didn't expect this commission to be so thrilling. I'm sorry, Xiaolan and Conan, for causing you trouble."
Conan smiled and responded to the blind girl: "It's okay, Sister Helena. It's the detective's responsibility to help the client solve the problem. Don't worry, Uncle Kogoro and Mr. Amuro should be back soon."
Although he said that, Conan still felt a little unsure.
