Chapter 107: The Voyage of Oceanus (Epilogue)
Chapter 107: The Voyage of Oceanus (Epilogue)
"Why...you're here just now..." The mercenary was now lying on the ground, unable to move.
The Weeping Clown (Deception Swallow) stood in front of the mercenary with his hands on his hips. "Hey, why did you give yourself a new look? That big hole in your chest looks like fool's gold."
The mercenary opened his mouth, but no sound came out. The wound must have injured his lungs. But Conan saw the mercenary's face, which had turned pale due to blood loss, turn red and knew that he must have cursed quite badly.
The first mate (Captain Hook) couldn't help but elbow the Weeping Clown: "Stop talking! If you keep our good brother from bleeding to death, he'll be pissed off to death."
After that, the first mate took out Dovlin and poured it down the drain for the mercenary. However, the mercenary was still lying flat on his back, and the first mate obviously didn't notice this when he poured it down. If the mercenary hadn't drunk it so fast, he would have choked.
The injury slowly healed, but the hideous wound did not disappear. The mercenary tugged at the Weeping Clown's sleeve and sat up: "I feel like I almost died at your hands."
"Hey, you're alright." The Weeping Clown's face suddenly changed into a playful smile, which made the mercenary feel that he deserved a beating. The mercenary raised his hand and was about to hit him in the face, but he started coughing again.
"Okay, you're the hardworking model worker of our operation team. Just take a rest and look after the kids here." The first mate picked up Conan and put him in the mercenary's arms.
"Mr. Naib, are you okay?" Conan nervously felt the mercenary's chest.
The mercenary quickly shook Conan's hand and said, "Alright, alright, it's okay for now. I guess I'll need to rest for a while after I go back."
On the other side, the first mate and the Weeping Clown had already approached Okiya Subaru, ready to help. After all, Okiya Subaru's fists and kicks were no match for the steel body of the Deer Head, but the Weeping Clown's bazooka was different.
"Hey, look here!" The Crying Clown pulled up a rocket and rushed towards the Deer Head.
Seeing this, Subaru Okiya immediately moved away from Shikato, and Shikato was hit by the rocket of the Crying Clown.
After Shikato recovered from his dizziness, the first mate rushed forward while shaking his pocket watch. Just as Subaru Okiya was about to remind him to be careful, he saw that Shikato's attacks seemed to have lost their accuracy and he didn't hit the first mate at all.
Two more figures approached the mercenary. When the mercenary saw that it was these two people, he almost burst into curse again.
"I know you want to curse, but don't be in a hurry." The magician (optical mirror) directly blocked the mercenary's mouth.
The adventurer (inventor) nodded. "We're planning on having Kaito Kid steal the specimen, so there's no need for you to confront the DM head-on."
The mercenary shook off the magician's hand: "Are you trying to help? You're clearly just causing trouble!"
"You can't say that. We are old teammates. You should know that we were the ones who asked for help." The magician stood aside with his hands on his hips.
The adventurer added, "It was Servi who persuaded the patrol team to provide the funds. Otherwise, where do you think the ship came from?"
After saying this, the adventurer pointed to another ship docked not far away.
"Wait a minute, you said you were asking the patrol team for funds? Was it that stingy 'explorer' who plundered them?" The mercenary reacted.
"Ah, he, the Bartender, and the Perfumer are the richest of the entire patrol team. The Bartender provided the potion, and the Perfumer has been out of reach lately. The Prospector said that since he's helping an old friend like you, he has no objection."
Before the mercenary could breathe a sigh of relief, the adventurer's next words almost made him faint.
"But you'll have no funding for the next three months."
"How about you just let me die on the ship?" The mercenary lay flat on the deck. "You all have either no shortage of funds or are wealthy, and I'm the only one still doing hard labor."
The magician patted the mercenary on the shoulder and said, "It's okay. You can still eat and drink for free in the Black Organization. Just hold on for the next three months."
Conan was shocked after witnessing everything, and couldn't help but worry about the mercenary's undercover career.
As if he understood what Conan was thinking, the mercenary sat up again. "Don't worry, nothing will happen. I'll just say I was being hunted by my enemies and had a hole in my chest so I need to rest for a while. I have enough physical evidence."
Conan was also worried when he saw the wound on the mercenary's chest which had not yet fully healed.
The magician looked around and finally locked onto a wooden box: "Mr. Kaito, don't hide. I see you."
Realizing that he was exposed, Kaito Kidd came out from his hiding place: "Oh, you saw through me again, Mr. Servi."
"Bring the things here. We will pass on the news you want later."
"Can't we just pay for the goods?"
The adventurer was somewhat helpless: "There have been some problems with our sources of information recently. If you want the latest information, you will have to wait for a while."
Then he handed a small note to Kidd, and Kidd handed the sample to the adventurer.
"Hey, over there, be careful!" The voice of the Crying Clown came from the other side.
It turned out that the first mate had just removed the grappling hook when he was helping the mercenary recover from his injuries, and at this moment, Deer Head picked up the grappling hook again and started swinging it.
The hook was swung out and hit the magician's back. Conan was about to scream when he saw the magician in front of him turn into sand and slowly disappear, and then reappear behind them.
"Okay, Blackhearted Deer is unsportsmanlike and is trying to launch a sneak attack, right? Luckily, I reacted quickly." The magician wiped the cold sweat from his forehead.
The Crying Clown now aimed the rocket launcher at Deer Head. Seeing that the fight had lasted long enough, Deer Head simply dropped the hook and ran away, and in the meantime picked up the Composer who was hiding and watching the fight.
Seeing this, several people hurried to chase after him. The Crying Clown pulled up the rocket and chased after him with the first mate, but he was still no match for the speed of the Infinite Hook and could only watch Deer Head's back disappear at the other end of the deck.
"It's okay. As long as they are still on this ship, we should be able to catch them." Conan broke free from the mercenaries' arms and caught up with them.
"That's hard to say." Kaito Kidd pointed to a lifeboat that had vanished. "That taxidermist lady jumped overboard earlier. I guess there's a lifeboat waiting down there to pick her up."
Conan was now anxious: "That's troublesome. All the passengers on this ship are poisoned. The two people who know about this toxin are not here. What should the passengers do?"
"I don't think I need to worry about poisoning." The novelist dragged his weak body over, holding on to the wall, and took out a piece of paper from his arms.
"The antidote is in the engine room." Conan understood that this note should be left by the composer to the novelist.
Afterwards, everyone added the antidote into the meals and asked the catering staff to prepare meals for the passengers one by one.
Olitis and his companions decided to leave on their own ship. Conan and Subaru watched as the mercenary was tied to a stretcher and carried away by the magician and adventurer. The novelist watched all this silently without saying a word.
Under the command of the cartographer, who had regained consciousness, the "Essembard" began its return voyage. Without the specimen collector's objection, the cartographer's statement had apparently convinced many passengers, even the meteorologist who had previously believed the cartographer's statement was superstitious.
Conan looked at the novelist standing alone on the deck, not knowing what to say to comfort him.
"I'm fine, Conan. I just... need to calm down and think for a moment."
Conan had no choice but to return to the cabin and discuss the experience of this voyage with Subaru Okiya. Both of them were surprised by the crazy infighting in the Oritis organization and were deeply afraid of those mysterious drug research.
It seems that I have to find a way to stop the DM's experimental plan in the future, Conan thought so, and followed Subaru Okiya off the boat that had already docked.
