Episode 110: Pursuing Clues
Carrying the precious clue that might reveal the mysteries of Earth, Lin Yi resolutely embarked on this long journey filled with endless unknowns. He tightly grasped the yellowed and slightly worn ancient map, as if it was his only ray of hope, guiding him through the fog.
He first stepped cautiously into the dense, lush forest that obscured the sun. The air was filled with a damp, decaying smell. The ground beneath his feet was soft and slippery, with thorns and vines occasionally blocking his path. Yi had no choice but to swing his long sword, painstakingly carving a path forward. Each step was accompanied by the crisp snap of branches, startling flocks of unknown birds.
After finally emerging from the forest, Yi was met by a towering, steep, and precipitous mountain range. The jagged rocks, shrouded in mist, were a formidable sight. However, Yi remained undeterred. Using both hands and feet, he forged ahead, climbing the nearly vertical cliffs. Sweat soaked his clothes, but his gaze remained unwavering.
After several days of arduous journey, Yi finally arrived at a remote, quiet town. Here, he inquired about the clue. His efforts paid off, and he learned some exciting rumors from an elderly man in his seventies. It was said that deep within the vast desert lay a mysterious ancient ruin. It seemed to have long slumbered, quietly awaiting the right person to awaken it. Perhaps within it lay a terrifying secret capable of transcending worlds and connecting different dimensions.
Upon hearing this news, Yi's heart ignited with a burning fire. Without hesitation, he immediately began to gather the necessary supplies for the desert. He carefully selected enough water and dry food to withstand hunger and thirst, and carefully checked his equipment. Once everything was ready, he shouldered his backpack without hesitation and strode towards the desert.
Shortly after entering the desert, Yi felt the harshness of this desolate place. The scorching sun mercilessly baked the earth, and the heat waves hit him, making the air distorted and blurry. The wind swept the yellow sand all over the sky, like a ferocious beast, rushing towards him with bared fangs and claws. Every step required tremendous effort, and his heavy footsteps sank deeply into the scorching sand. But Yi gritted his teeth, tenaciously resisting the challenges posed by the harsh environment, and moved forward step by step towards his goal... The journey was difficult, but his longing to return home kept him moving forward.
After several days of long and arduous journey, Lin Yi dragged his exhausted body forward, step by step. Just as he was about to exhaust all his strength and patience, the outline of a building, dilapidated by the erosion of time, gradually came into his sight. This building was the long-rumored and mysterious ruins.
From afar, the ruins looked as if they had weathered countless storms. The walls were mottled and crumbling, and the stone pillars were crumbling, giving the impression that they could collapse at any moment. Yet, even so, the mysterious and irresistible aura emanating from the ruins captivated Lin Yi like a magnet. A voice deep within him kept telling him that this place held the key to the answers he had been searching for.
Filled with anticipation and trepidation, Lin Yi cautiously entered the ruins. Upon entering, a thick, pungent cloud of dust lashed out, choking him and causing him to cough repeatedly. After gathering his composure, he looked around and saw the walls densely covered with a myriad of bizarre symbols and incomprehensible patterns. These symbols and patterns, like inscrutable inscriptions, were baffling, but Lin Yi showed no sign of retreat. Instead, he calmed down and observed them intently, attempting to decipher valuable information from these seemingly random patterns.
Time ticked by, as Lin Yi meticulously explored every nook and cranny of the ruins. Suddenly, his sharp eyes caught sight of something unusual—an inconspicuous mechanism tucked away in a corner. With a thought, he tiptoed over, stretched out his slightly trembling fingers, and gently pressed the mechanism.
With a low rumble, a heavy stone door slowly swung open, revealing the true state of the room within. Behind the door lay neatly arranged rows of ancient books and magical items gleaming with a strange light. Lin Yi's excitement was palpable upon seeing this, and he couldn't wait to step into the room.
Like a hungry wolf pouncing on its prey, he quickly picked up a book and began flipping through it. Soon, a yellowed parchment scroll captured his attention. The parchment looked ancient, its edges frayed and fuzzy, yet the text and images within were still legible. Lin Yi read word by word, his mind growing more and more awestruck as it detailed an extremely powerful and rare spatial magic. According to the book, mastering this magic and performing it correctly could unlock a magical passage to an unknown world.
Lin Yi was so excited that he could hardly contain himself. He gripped the parchment tightly, as if holding the key to a mysterious world. He stared wide-eyed, carefully studying every line of words and every picture on it, afraid to miss any key details.
Finally, Lin Yi felt that he was fully prepared and could try to cast the magic according to the method described on the parchment. He took a deep breath, concentrated his mind, and muttered something, and the magic wand in his hand began to emit a faint light.
However, at this critical moment, a deep, deafening roar suddenly erupted from the ruins. Like rolling thunder, the sound echoed throughout the entire space, as if some terrifying being, long dormant, had been suddenly awakened.
Lin Yi's heart suddenly tightened, and a strong sense of crisis instantly surged into his heart. He subconsciously clenched the magic wand in his hand, his body tensed, and his eyes vigilantly scanned everything around him.
In the darkness not far away, an enormous shadow slowly emerged. As it gradually approached, Lin Yi finally saw its true appearance - it was a monster of astonishing size!
The beast's body towered like a mountain, covered in a layer of scales as hard as iron, gleaming with an icy light. Its bloody maw, wide open, could swallow several elephants; its sharp fangs gleamed with a chilling icy light in the dim light. Its eyes, as big as copper bells, burned with blazing fury as they stared intently at Lin Yi, as if ready to pounce and tear him to pieces at any moment.
The monster lunged at Lin Yi with its fangs and claws bared. Lin Yi quickly cast a spell to resist. For a moment, the magic light and the monster's attack collided with each other, and the ruins were filled with intense energy fluctuations.
