Chapter 9 Choosing a Kindergarten for His Daughter, Shi Qing
Chapter 9 Choosing a Kindergarten for His Daughter, Shi Qing
Li Yuan has been a little worried lately because her little darling, Li Shiqing, has turned three years old and is old enough to start kindergarten. That evening, the family sat around the dining table to discuss Shiqing's kindergarten plans.
Li Yuan spoke first: "Mom and Dad, Shi Qing is three years old now, and we need to consider sending her to kindergarten. What are your thoughts?"
Dad put down his chopsticks, pondered for a moment, and said, "Yes, this is a big deal. We need to find a reliable kindergarten with good teaching quality and a safe and comfortable environment."
Mom nodded in agreement: "That's right, and the teacher has to be patient. Our Shiqing is a bit timid, so it won't work if the teacher is too fierce."
Li Yuan's younger brother, who was playing on his phone, looked up when he heard the topic: "Sis, a lot of kindergartens now have special courses. We should see if there are any that Shi Qing would be interested in."
Li Yuan responded, "That's what I think too. I've been looking online these past few days, but the information is too mixed up, so I still need to go and find out more in person."
Dad continued, "Yes, don't just look at what's online, it's most important to do on-site research. We can ask our neighbors how their kids are doing at the kindergartens they attend."
The next day, when Li Yuan got home from get off work, she told her mother about inquiring about the kindergarten.
Li Yuan said, "Mom, I asked Aunt Wang next door today, and she said that the kindergarten her grandson attends is pretty good, but it's a bit far from home, so it's not very convenient to pick him up and drop him off."
The mother frowned: "It can't be too far. The child is so young, it's too tiring for him to travel every day. Let's look at some nearby places."
A few days later, it happened to be Li Yuan's day off. She went out early in the morning to inquire about enrollment at nearby kindergartens.
Li Yuan arrived at the nearest kindergarten. Upon entering, she was greeted by colorful decorations, which gave her a warm and welcoming feeling. She went to the front desk and said to the staff, "Hello, I would like to inquire about your kindergarten's enrollment process."
The staff member smiled and said, "Hello, our kindergarten is currently enrolling students. We have classes for toddlers, preschoolers, and kindergarteners. How old is your child?"
Li Yuan replied, "My child is three years old, and I would like to know about the teaching situation here."
A staff member explained, "Our teaching places great emphasis on the all-round development of children. We have specialized art courses, such as painting and crafts, to cultivate children's creativity; we also have music courses, with professional music teachers leading the children in singing and playing instruments. In addition, we also have a certain amount of outdoor activity time every day to ensure the children's physical exercise."
Li Yuan then asked, "What qualifications do teachers have?"
The staff member said, "Our teachers are all graduates of early childhood education programs and have many years of teaching experience. They are very loving and patient. Each class is equipped with a head teacher, an assistant teacher, and a caregiver to take care of the children in all aspects."
Li Yuan nodded, then asked, "What are your security measures like here?"
The staff member showed Li Yuan around the kindergarten's facilities, saying, "You see, there are surveillance cameras in every corner of our campus, and the main gate has an access control system; outsiders must register before entering. The children's activity areas are also properly secured, with no sharp edges or corners."
Li Yuan then went to check out the classroom. It was filled with various toys and desks and chairs of appropriate height for the children, and the walls were covered with their artwork. Her first impression of the kindergarten was quite good, but she still decided to visit a few more.
Li Yuan then visited another kindergarten, which appeared to be larger in scale.
Li Yuan approached the admissions officer and asked, "Hello, I'd like to find a kindergarten for my three-year-old daughter and would like to learn more about your program."
The person in charge said warmly, "Welcome to our kindergarten. In addition to our regular courses, we also have a special foreign language learning program to cultivate children's language skills from a very young age."
Li Yuan was somewhat intrigued: "Foreign language learning for beginners sounds good. Are your foreign language teachers native speakers or Chinese teachers?"
The person in charge said, "We combine Chinese and foreign teachers so that children can be exposed to authentic foreign language pronunciation and receive help from Chinese teachers in understanding."
Li Yuan then asked, "What about the food? I've heard that some kindergartens don't serve very good food."
The person in charge smiled and said, "We have a dedicated nutritionist to plan meals for the children to ensure a balanced diet every day. All our ingredients are sourced from legitimate channels and are safe and hygienic."
Li Yuan continued her tour and found that the kindergarten had a large playground with various play facilities. However, she also noticed that there seemed to be quite a lot of children, and she was a little worried about whether the teachers could take care of them all.
After returning home, Li Yuan told her family about the situation at the two kindergartens.
Li Yuan said, "The first kindergarten had a warm environment, good teachers, and good safety measures. The second kindergarten was large, had foreign language learning courses, and had a lot of playground and play facilities, but there seemed to be a lot of children."
Dad said, "With so many children, can the teachers take care of them all? We need to think about that carefully. Foreign language learning is good, but we can't sacrifice the children's attention."
Mom also said, "Yes, I still think it's more important for teachers to pay more attention to the children. The quality of the food is also crucial; it won't do if the children don't eat well."
The younger brother said from the side, "Sis, you could go and see if there are any smaller kindergartens that can combine all these advantages."
So Li Yuan began a new search. Finally, she found a kindergarten of a suitable size.
As Li Yuan entered the kindergarten, she felt a peaceful yet lively atmosphere. She chatted with the admissions teacher.
Li Yuan asked, "Teacher, I would like to know about the special features of your kindergarten."
The admissions officer said, "We focus on nurturing each child's individual development. We tailor our teaching content to each child's unique characteristics. For example, if a child is interested in scientific exploration, we will provide more small science experiments; if a child enjoys art, we will offer more opportunities for artistic creation. Moreover, our student-teacher ratio is reasonable, ensuring that every child receives sufficient attention."
Li Yuan then asked, "What is the course schedule like here?"
The admissions staff provided a detailed introduction to the curriculum, including foundational courses such as language, mathematics, art, and science, as well as a wealth of outdoor activities and games. A professional culinary team also ensures the quality and taste of the meals.
Li Yuan toured the classrooms and activity areas and found that the facilities were all new and thoughtfully arranged. She already had a preference in mind.
After returning home, Li Yuan discussed it with her family again.
Li Yuan said, "I think this kindergarten is really good. It's a good size, offering a wide range of courses and activities while ensuring that the teachers can give each child individual attention. I also think their personalized teaching will be very beneficial to Shi Qing's development."
Dad said, "That sounds really good, let's book this place then."
The mother smiled and nodded, "I hope Shiqing can have a happy time in kindergarten there."
The younger brother also said, "Sis, then you should hurry up and register Shi Qing."
And so, after discussions among the family and Li Yuan's diligent search, a kindergarten was finally settled for Li Shiqing. Li Yuan breathed a sigh of relief, looking forward to Shiqing growing up happily in kindergarten and embarking on a new journey in her life.
