Chapter 236 The Master's Task.

Chapter 236 The Master's Task.

The eerie, terrifying laughter echoed wildly in the room, like sharp ice blades piercing the souls of Jun Luochuan, Su Yao, and the castle master, as if trying to freeze their wills instantly. Jun Luochuan's brows were furrowed, like two thick, unyielding clouds of ink, his gaze blazing like two bolts of lightning capable of piercing the darkness, trying to find the mysterious source of the laughter in this raging, chaotic mess.

"Who on earth is playing tricks on us!" Jun Luochuan roared, his voice like a thunderclap, exploding in the room, filled with boundless anger and unquestionable authority, as if he wanted to shatter the evil force hidden in the darkness in one fell swoop.

Su Yao gripped Jun Luochuan's clothes tightly, her body trembling slightly, like a delicate flower in a storm. "Jun Luochuan, I'm so scared." Her voice trembled, as if it were being squeezed out from between her teeth.

The castle owner's expression was solemn as he rapidly formed hand seals, his hands moving nimbly and swiftly like butterflies flitting among flowers, attempting to quell the sudden, ferocious wind.

Gradually, the gale, like a tamed wild beast, finally subsided, and the room returned to a superficial calm. However, the tense and oppressive atmosphere remained like a thick, dark cloud, weighing heavily on everyone's hearts.

“It’s the evil spirits in the castle causing trouble,” the castle owner said slowly, his voice low and heavy, as if telling an ancient and terrifying legend. “They have been imprisoned here for a long time, and they are filled with a burning hostility towards every intruder.”

Jun Luochuan snorted coldly, his voice sounding like a sneer squeezed from his nose, "Mere evil spirits are nothing to fear. How could I, Jun Luochuan, be afraid of these cowardly and treacherous villains!"

The castle lord looked at Jun Luochuan and Su Yao, his eyes revealing a steely determination. "But this is just the tip of the iceberg of the many dangers facing the castle. I have a difficult task to entrust to you two brave adventurers."

Jun Luochuan raised an eyebrow, a gesture as sharp as drawing a sword, carrying a hint of provocation. "What mission? Are you suggesting we slay dragons and subdue tigers?"

The castle lord took a deep breath, as if drawing all his courage into his chest. "Deep beneath the castle lies a mysterious spirit pearl. This pearl, like the brightest star in the night sky, possesses immense power, capable of purifying the evil spirits within the castle and restoring its former peace and tranquility. But obtaining this pearl will be no easy task."

Su Yao's eyes widened, like two bright gems, filled with surprise and curiosity. "How difficult is it? Is it harder than climbing to heaven?"

The castle lord's face was solemn, like a cold stone statue. "The Spirit Orb is heavily guarded by numerous traps and powerful guardian beasts. Those traps are like treacherous venomous snakes, ready to strike at any moment; the guardian beasts are as ferocious as lions and tigers, possessing immense strength. Moreover, the underground passages are filled with misty illusions and pitfalls like death traps. A slight misstep will lead to utter ruin, like a lost lamb."

Jun Luochuan's lips curled into a slight smile, a smile like a ray of dawn in the darkness, full of confidence and fearlessness. "Sounds very challenging, but I, Jun Luochuan, accept it. There is no difficulty or obstacle in this world that I dare not face!"

Su Yao hesitated, a hint of worry in her eyes, "Jun Luochuan, are we really going? It sounds too dangerous."

Jun Luochuan glanced at her, his gaze filled with determination and encouragement, like the warm sun in winter. "What are you afraid of? I'm here. I will protect you. Even if there are mountains of knives and seas of fire ahead, I will pave a safe path for you."

The castle owner nodded, a relieved smile on his face. "Alright, I will give you some valuable tips and necessary equipment. But whether you succeed in the end depends on your own abilities and the luck bestowed by heaven."

Jun Luochuan took the equipment handed to him by the castle owner and examined it carefully. His focused expression was like that of an expert appraising a rare treasure.

"Remember, you only have three days. If you fail to obtain the Spirit Pearl within three days, the evil spirits in the castle will become like wild horses, completely out of control, and the consequences will be unimaginable. The entire castle and even the surrounding world may fall into endless darkness and chaos." The castle master said solemnly, his voice heavy like a warning bell, making everyone's heart tighten.

Jun Luochuan smiled confidently, a smile like a spring breeze dispelling the snow of winter. "Three days is enough. I, Jun Luochuan, never do anything I'm not sure I can do."

Although Su Yao was apprehensive, seeing Jun Luochuan's confident demeanor seemed to infuse her with a powerful strength, and she mustered her courage, "Then let's give it a shot!"

"Let's go!" Jun Luochuan commanded, his voice like a battle horn, leading Su Yao into the unknown darkness beneath the castle. Their figures gradually disappeared into the deep passageway...

Jun Luochuan walked ahead, his steps firm and powerful, the weapon in his hand emitting a faint glow. Su Yao followed closely behind, cautiously observing her surroundings.

"Jun Luochuan, I always feel this place is eerie," Su Yao couldn't help but say.

"Don't scare yourself," Jun Luochuan said without turning his head.

The passageway was filled with a damp smell, and water droplets dripped from the walls onto the floor, making a crisp sound.

Suddenly, several forks in the road appeared ahead.

"Which way?" Su Yao asked.

Jun Luochuan stopped and thought for a moment, then said, "The left side."

They entered the left passage and soon heard a low roar.

"Something's wrong!" Jun Luochuan gripped his weapon tightly.

A gigantic monster burst forth from the darkness...
