Chapter 598 Lin Yun's Trump Card
Chapter 598 Lin Yun's Trump Card
Late at night, inside a private club in the western suburbs of the capital.
Lin Yun sat on a soft leather sofa, wearing a silver-gray off-shoulder dress, her makeup exquisite, her gaze cold.
The person sitting in front of her was Shen Yan, a rising financial star who has rapidly emerged in the fund industry in recent years.
The room was dimly lit, with a wine glass filled with red wine between the two. Lin Yun lightly twirled the stem of the glass with her fingertips, a cryptic smile playing on her lips.
"She finally made her move?" Shen Yan asked calmly, but his eyes were sharp.
“She should have made her move sooner.” Lin Yun raised her eyes, her gaze like a sharp icy blade. “I just didn’t expect that she could make Lin Zhengguo bow down.”
Shen Yanyan remained noncommittal: "The thing that Lin Zhengguo fears most is not losing his daughter, but losing control."
"So you think I lost?" Lin Yun raised an eyebrow.
"Are you not reconciled?" Shen Yan asked back.
Lin Yun's smile deepened, her fingertips slowly caressing the wine glass: "I just think... Lin Chuyue is too hasty."
"She wanted to seize control of Vision before the next quarter's earnings release and completely shake up the fund's seats. But she forgot that controlling a company is not just about the board of directors."
She took out a document and placed it in front of Shen Yan.
That was a signed share transfer agreement.
“These are Chen Donglin’s shares,” Lin Yun said. “He has agreed to transfer his 6% stake in Vision to my company, Yongyao.”
Shen Yan raised an eyebrow: "He's not one of Lin Chuyue's people?"
Lin Yun chuckled lightly: "Power is fickle; anyone can be traded. She trusts people too much."
"With the trust funds left by my mother Shen Fang, once I complete the acquisition, Lin Chuyue will no longer be able to move Yuanjing."
Shen Yan said calmly, "But she is not alone."
"You mean Li Zhanchuan?" Lin Yun sneered. "He's completely unsuitable to get involved in Vision. His battlefield is financial investment banking, not a family business. Just wait and see, once she bets everything on that man, she'll be backfired."
Shen Yan picked up his wine glass and took a sip: "But don't underestimate Lin Chuyue."
A sharp glint flashed in Lin Yun's eyes: "That would depend on whether she can withstand my next offensive."
?
At the same time, Lin Chuyue was standing at the entrance of an old building.
She wasn't wearing fancy clothes, only light makeup, and was accompanied by only one assistant/bodyguard—Qin Zhe.
This is an accounting firm located in the old town. The entrance is dilapidated and the signboard is even peeling. But she knows that many of Shen Fang's overseas funds were laundered out through this firm.
Today, she is here to meet a key figure.
—Li Zhongwen, Shen Fang’s former private financial advisor, had his license revoked five years ago for tax evasion and has since disappeared.
Under Qin Zhe's arrangement, it took her a whole week to persuade this person to come forward.
The room was dimly lit. Li Zhongwen was about fifty years old, balding, with a cigarette between his fingers, but his eyes were still unusually alert.
“Miss Lin, are you sure you want to bring up this old grievance? I’ve already explained your mother’s situation to you.”
Lin Chuyue calmly said, "You're referring to the police's statement, but I believe there's more you haven't said."
Li Zhongwen stared into her eyes: "Whom do you want to investigate?"
Lin Chuyue's eyes sharpened: "Shen Fang's fund network, and Lin Yun's fund movements."
"Lin Yun?" Li Zhongwen chuckled. "She's young, but her methods are far more ruthless than your mother's. Do you know which private equity fund she recently acquired overseas?"
“I know,” Lin Chuyue said. “It’s the Spanish Alisis Fund. It’s nominally a cultural investment fund, but it’s actually a financial shell.”
Li Zhongwen looked surprised.
“But what I want to know more about is how she used the funds left by Shen Fang.” Lin Chuyue’s voice was low. “That money should have been frozen after my mother died, but she used it.”
Li Zhongwen sighed and took a drag of his cigarette.
“It was indeed her who did it. She used the confidentiality agreement your mother set up back then—to ‘transfer’ some assets to Lin Zhengguo’s name, and then Lin Zhengguo submitted a power of attorney last year to transfer them back to Lin Yun’s account. Legally, it’s flawless.”
Lin Chuyue gritted her teeth, her fingers clenched into fists.
It's Lin Zhengguo again...
She asked coldly, "Do you have the transfer receipt?"
Li Zhongwen hesitated for a moment, then pulled a sealed envelope from the drawer.
“I have a copy that I have on file. The original… is in the offshore office in Xi’an. Lin Yun has already started transferring the documents. If you don’t act now, it will be too late.”
Lin Chuyue took the envelope and nodded emphatically.
?
Back at the company, Lin Chuyue convened a small strategic meeting with only herself, Qin Zhe, and her newly hired legal counsel, Bai Yan, in attendance.
“The situation is not optimistic.” Bai Yan frowned. “Lin Yun has acquired Chen Donglin’s shares, which has caused us to lose our slight advantage in the board seats.”
Lin Chuyue said softly, "But there are loopholes in her deal. As long as we can find out the path of the funds left by Shen Fang and prove that the money was illegally obtained, Yongyao's acquisition qualification will be invalidated."
Bai Yan reminded her, "This isn't a battle you're fighting alone. You need Gu Yanchuan to stand up and support you at the fund merger hearing."
Lin Chuyue remained silent.
Gu Yanchuan—the one who stood by Lin Yun's side when she was most helpless—still hasn't made a clear statement.
Can she trust him?
?
Meanwhile, inside the Gu Group's conference room.
Gu Yanchuan sat alone in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, with several faxed documents from overseas in front of him.
One document is a draft regarding the structural changes to the "Vision Changyue" fund; another is an acquisition statement for Yongyao Fund under Lin Yun's name; and there is another document—
Lin Chuyue submitted a formal hearing application.
His gaze shifted between the three documents, his eyes as deep and unfathomable as the ocean.
The secretary knocked and entered: "Mr. Gu, Miss Lin called and said she would like to meet with you in person tonight."
Gu Yanchuan didn't hesitate: "Let her come."
?
In the darkness of night, Lin Chuyue stood in front of the Gu residence, wearing a dark green trench coat, her hair tied up, her expression resolute.
Gu Yanchuan opened the door himself and looked down at her: "It's so late, aren't you afraid I won't see you?"
“You never refuse a valuable collaboration,” Lin Chuyue said calmly.
The two sat in the tea room, remaining silent for a moment.
Finally, Lin Chuyue spoke first: "I know you received Lin Yun's equity change documents. At the hearing, she will try to use her financial advantage to interfere with the fund merger."
Gu Yanchuan lowered his eyes and said calmly, "She used your mother's old funds."
Lin Chuyue was taken aback: "You knew?"
"I found it out from Shen Yan."
Lin Chuyue stared at him: "Then why aren't you going to say anything?"
Gu Yanchuan looked into her eyes and suddenly smiled: "When did you learn to persuade people with emotions?"
Lin Chuyue was stunned for a moment, not expecting him to say that.
Gu Yanchuan stood up and walked up to her: "You came to me not because you trust me, but because you can't afford to lose right now, right?"
Lin Chuyue gazed at him silently, without answering.
“You know I will help you, but you still refuse to give yourself to me—not even the slightest bit of weakness.”
“I can’t back down.” Her voice choked in her throat, but she tried her best to remain calm. “If I back down, they will win.”
Gu Yanchuan reached out and gently grasped her fingers: "This time, I'm on your side."
"It's not because Lin Yun is hateful, it's because you deserve it."
Lin Chuyue's eyes suddenly welled up with tears.
She finally whispered, "Thank you."
Gu Yanchuan lifted her chin, gazed at her for a long while, and said in a low voice:
"I'll fight this battle with you to the very end."
?
[Chapter Ending - Suspense Hint]
Meanwhile, in an offshore firm in Xi'an, an uninvited guest was going through Lin Yun's account documents.
He was wearing sunglasses and was tall.
The call connected: "Mr. Shen, the document has been found. Lin Chuyue... it's too late."
The next chapter will reveal Shen Yan's "bottom line" and Lin Yun's long-hidden killer move.
