Chapter 48 Weaving Baskets
Chapter 48 Weaving Baskets
Finally, he didn't forget to roll his eyes.
Cheng Qingyan: "..."
Forget it, I won't count on him for now.
You can't even braid straw rope? Tch!
Cheng Qingyan pursed her lips, and finally, her gaze lingered on Bai Yujin: "Yujin, can I borrow your soft sword for a moment? I saw a tree behind us that looks like a willow tree, with quite long branches. I'd like to cut it down and weave a few baskets, is that alright?"
The main point is that she never even considered bringing a sword.
Unexpectedly, on this variety show, I met someone carrying a soft sword. Having this soft sword made things much more convenient; I could cut down bamboo and tree branches and make full use of them.
Bai Yujin looked at her in surprise. Weaving a basket?
"Sure, do you need any help?"
Upon hearing that she could help, Cheng Qingyan immediately replied, "Of course I need to. I don't think I could get many on my own."
Bai Yujin immediately stood up, drew the soft sword from his waist, held it up to Cheng Qingyan, and said, "Let's go, take me there, I'll cut off a lot more for you."
A hint of gratitude flashed in Cheng Qingyan's eyes.
Leading Bai Yujin in that direction, he pointed to about a dozen trees with branches of moderate thickness and great resilience, and said, "These are the ones. Be careful."
Bai Yujin nodded, indicating that she understood.
She wielded her soft sword, skillfully cutting down branches one by one, while Cheng Qingyan carefully collected them, afraid of missing any.
Before long, Bai Yujin had cut down a large pile of branches.
Looking at the branches, Cheng Qingyan was very satisfied: "This is enough for us to weave several baskets. Thank you, Yujin."
Bai Yujin smiled and said, "No need to thank me, it's just mutual help. Sister Qingyan, are you sure you can do it?"
Cheng Qingyan was full of confidence and patted her chest, saying, "Don't worry, I grew up in the countryside. What can't I do? Just wait and see."
She smiled smugly.
After saying that, the two helped carry the branches back to their resting place. As soon as they got back, they threw the branches on the ground, while Cheng Qingyan sat on the stone slab and began to weave a basket.
She was skilled, and in no time...
The basket was then presented to everyone.
Bai Yujin was surprised by her skill; she was quite skilled. "Qingyan, you're amazing! You've got the skills."
Cheng Qingyan blinked modestly and continued weaving the basket. In less than twenty minutes, she had woven another one.
Just as she finished weaving, Cheng Qingyan nudged the sleeping Ou Wenlin: "Ou Wenlin, wake up and help. Don't sleep, it's time to help."
Ou Wenlin was sleeping soundly.
Kicked by Cheng Qingyan, he groggily opened his eyes, then said with displeasure, "What are you doing? I haven't had enough sleep yet."
Cheng Qingyan said irritably, "All you do is sleep. Ruan Ruan and Yu Jin are helping out, what are you doing? Still sleeping."
If it weren't for the fact that he was someone I knew, I would have really wanted to kick him hard.
Ou Wenlin rubbed his eyes, and when he opened them, he saw Bai Yujin and Wu Ruanruan busy at work, and even Uncle Kang was helping out.
He immediately felt embarrassed, quickly got up, and scratched his head sheepishly: "Sorry, I'll help right away."
Cheng Qingyan was satisfied and gave him some branches.
But his attitude was quite serious.
Cheng Qingyan patiently guided him.
How to cross branches and how to tighten knots.
Although Ou Wenlin learned slowly, he gradually caught up with the pace and made a decent basket frame.
Just then, the other two cameramen arrived, but the place was a bit out of the way and they almost couldn't find it.
The two men, who had rushed over in a hurry, lit up when they saw the familiar figures: "Brother Kang, Brother Liu! Xiao Qi!"
Hearing the noise, everyone looked up and saw Deng Jingsheng and Chen Lifeng, whose clothes were torn to shreds. The two looked like they had just escaped from a chaotic battle, their clothes were tattered, and their faces had several abrasions and blisters.
Kang Chengyu frowned and asked worriedly, "What happened to you two? How did you get like this?"
Deng Jingsheng shook his head with a wry smile, panting as he said, "Don't even mention it. On the way here, we accidentally wandered into a beehive. We thought it was something else entirely. Before we knew it, the beehive was knocked down, and we were chased by the swarm of bees for a long time before we finally escaped."
Cheng Lifeng gave a wry smile and touched the wound on his face: "Sigh, I almost didn't make it in time."
Upon hearing this, Kang Chengyu couldn't help but burst out laughing.
The others also showed expressions of both sympathy and amusement. He waved his hand, signaling Deng Jingsheng and Chen Lifeng to come over: "Alright, you two don't need to stand there anymore. Come and sit down and rest for a while. We've almost finished weaving the baskets here, so you can catch your breath."
Deng Jingsheng and Chen Lifeng walked over, supporting each other.
He plopped down on the ground and let out a long sigh of relief.
Cheng Qingyan handed them both some water and said with concern, "Drink some water and calm down. You two are really unlucky."
Chen Lifeng took the water, glanced gratefully at Cheng Qingyan, and then drank it down in large gulps. Deng Jingsheng, on the other hand, drank his water while watching everyone busy at work.
He said, "It seems we missed quite a few exciting parts."
Cheng Qingyan smiled and pointed to the baskets she had woven, saying, "It's alright, it's not too late for you to join now. These baskets still need to be dried before they can be used. You can help take them to dry."
Deng Jingsheng drank water and looked at the four woven baskets.
"What's the point of making this up?"
He had no idea what was happening here.
Even if I wanted to know, it would be too late.
On the way here, I was nearly stung half to death by bees.
Bai Yujin first put the prepared fish into a basket, along with some clams, oysters, lobsters, and so on. If there had been a shortage of salt, she could have caught more razor clams.
Cheng Qingyan and Wu Ruanruan picked them up from the surface of the beach; there weren't many. Bai Yujin looked up at the two of them.
He spoke in a nonchalant tone: "To pack things."
There's nothing else to store besides these.
Cheng Qingyan looked at it and pondered for a while.
He said to Wu Ruanruan, "Ruanruan, you and Ou Wenlin can collect some sea snails, crabs, and scallops. I'm going to the shallow waters to catch some fish."
Wu Ruanruan nodded and replied, "Okay, Sister Qingyan, let's go now." She pulled up Ou Wenlin, who was still clumsily learning to weave a basket, and the two walked towards the seaside together.
Before leaving, Ou Wenlin was still muttering, "If you're going to leave, don't pull me along, or I'll fall again."
Wu Ruanruan rolled her eyes at him: "Owen, don't jinx it."
Ou Wenlin chuckled and touched his nose.
He stopped talking and obediently followed Wu Ruanruan towards the sea. Their long shadows, cast by the setting sun, looked somewhat comical.
Cheng Qingyan watched their retreating figures.
He chuckled to himself, then turned to Bai Yujin and said, "Let's go, let's catch some more fish."
