Chapter 34 The Truth About the G-Men
Chapter 34 The Truth About the G-Men
In their public relations campaigns, the G-Men are always portrayed as a large family, a group of exiles far removed from civilized society who unite to fight against the prejudices of the world, with Professor G, John Godotkin, taking on the role of the patriarch of this family.
Indeed, John Gododkin was the patriarch of all G-Men, handling almost all the induction and formalities for each member.
The process involves him driving a low-key yet luxurious limousine around residential areas with insufficient surveillance coverage, the car filled with candy, toys, comics, and everything children like, just like Santa's sleigh.
He would open the car door generously and gently call a seven or eight-year-old child into the car. No child could resist such a temptation, especially when the famous Professor G was sitting in the car.
Then the car door closed, and the car sped away. Professor G would promise the children many things in the car, including unlimited candy and toys, free access to comic books and game consoles, and most importantly—to become a glorious G-Men, a superhero.
The children may feel homesick at first, but as new children arrive and the superheroes from the comic books come to life before them, that longing gradually fades away.
With the companionship of their friends and the guidance of their senior G-Men mentors, these kids grew up quickly until they could stand on their own... becoming G-Men.
Then comes fame and fortune: media attention, public acclaim, and annual incomes of hundreds of thousands or even millions of dollars. This will motivate all members to spare no effort in protecting the interests of the G-Men family.
"Wait a minute, aren't all G-Men supermen supposed to have superpowers?"
Starlight discovered a blind spot in the Warlord's words: "How did the G-Men manage to so precisely kidnap children with superpowers?"
The fact that the Warlord coughed up blood was no secret within the G-Men:
"Because superpowers aren't innate! Professor G injects everyone with a drug, once a week, until some of us start to develop superpowers."
Joey suddenly remembered the term he had seen in an internal email from Vought International: "Compound Five".
Now everything makes sense.
But it still doesn't explain why someone as shameless as Deadpool is so tight-lipped about the secrets within the G-Men.
"Wait, but..."
The starlight next to her was struck dumb. Her entire dream of being a superhero was based on the premise that superpowers were a blessing from God. If she herself was a man-made object, then what about God's arrangement for her?
Joey waved his hand, interrupting Starlight's question. He had no time to consider Starlight's feelings; he only wanted to know if Laurie was alright.
"Get to the point, what's the deal with that girl, Laurie Lemon?"
Laurie Lemon is someone Vought International forced into the G-Men as the successor to Silver Woman; the G-Men members had actually stopped wanting new members a long time ago.
Because the value of this IP is limited, adding another person means that each person will receive less, especially since this person is an outsider from Walter.
"The night she arrived, the Fifth Warrior acted recklessly and insisted on going to her door to perform 'welcoming procedures.' I only know that it seemed like a conflict broke out, but I don't know the outcome. Anyway, in the end, the Fifth Warrior went back to the banquet with Professor G."
When the war leader mentioned the so-called "welcoming procedures," his expression became extremely unnatural, a fact noticed by the attentive Joey. His eyes reddened, and he pressed further:
"Tell me! What kind of welcoming procedures are required?!"
When asked about this, the war lord took a deep breath, his words carrying a hint of relief:
"It's a 'procedure' that Gododkin personally makes every new member go through to ensure that we all obey."
John Godokin, the head of the G-Men family, is the only ordinary person in the G-Men.
He provided meticulous care and attention to the children, but most importantly, he was a pedophile.
On the eve of the injection, Gododkin would visit each of the young children one by one at night and then look after them in bed.
No child, whether male or female, is spared. After experiencing such a nightmarish night repeatedly at the age of seven or eight, no one will have the courage to rebel against Godotkin.
Then, the hefty income from becoming a G-Men will make these people even more devoted.
In a sense, this is what is known as Stockholm syndrome.
"There are nearly three hundred members in the G-Men, including those younger than you and those with more experience than you."
Starlight felt that everything was unbelievable:
"Professor G is just an ordinary person. If you and the previous generation of G-Men experienced things like that when you were young, why didn't you try to change the situation when you grew up? How can you continue to let such absurd things happen again?!"
"Hehehehehehahahaha..."
The warlord simply laughed, and even when the laughter caused blood to rush back into his mouth, choking him and making him cough violently, the laughter never stopped:
"My predecessors and I didn't let things slide! We joined in every orientation process, except for Godotkin!"
"you...."
Starlight felt nothing but disgust for these superheroes. Each of them had been an innocent victim, yet in the dark and hopeless melting pot of the G-Men, they had become perpetrators in a new wave.
"You should all go to jail..."
Before Starlight could finish speaking, the scorching heat gaze had already turned the war lord lying on the ground into a pile of charred remains.
Joey's blood-red eyes gradually cooled as he looked at the corpse on the ground, but his gaze pierced through all obstacles, reaching the other side of the earth.
He saw a whale carcass slowly sinking into the deep sea on the other side of the earth, with countless microorganisms and animals building a temporary paradise on the carcass.
He blinked again and looked in the direction of the G-Men's Manor, but did not see Laurie.
But the G-Men had clearly already discovered that Deadpool had taken one of them, and they were now all assembling, on guard against a possible second attack.
No, it's not a possibility, it's inevitable.
"Run as far as you can, starlight!"
Joey grabbed the corpse from the ground and, in an instant, arrived inside the G-Men manor.
At this moment, Joey looked down at all the members of the G-Men, and could see their bodies, bones, internal organs, blood, and even the microcurrent transmission of nerve synapses in their brains.
Facing the entire G-Men assembled around Professor G, Joey threw the Warlord's corpse onto their battlefield. Their next response would determine the fate of each and every one of them:
"I'll ask one last time, where is that girl from last night?"
"You damned beast!"
The fifth warrior deduced the corpse's identity from the few remaining pieces of clothing and armor. Seeing the death of his family member filled him with rage, and he reached up to cover his goggles.
"I just used my heat vision to slice a bitch in two last night, and I guarantee you'll suffer the same fate in a bit!"
