Chapter 17 Personally Instructed in Spells
Chapter 17 Personally Instructed in Spells
Several beams of light shot over, and Qian Wenyang arrived with two of his disciples, only to find no one there, but a few faint traces of a battle remained.
“Master, we’re probably too late,” a disciple reported. Qian Wenyang stroked his long beard and frowned slightly. “No, not that fast. You two split up and search. They shouldn’t be able to get out of Zhaixing Cliff.”
"Yes."
After the two disciples left, Qian Wenyang walked to a boulder, a blue light flashing in his eyes. He then saw an extremely strong spiritual energy fluctuation on the ground, indicating a cultivation level of at least Core Formation.
"Oh no!" His expression changed drastically. He immediately flicked his sleeve, and blue spirit butterflies flew out from his sleeve, heading in all directions towards the Annihilation Cold Sect.
A few clear birdsongs came from all around, and a gentle breeze occasionally blew by. Tao Tao opened his eyes in confusion and found that he had actually arrived in Sunset Valley.
It must be quite a journey from Zhaixing Cliff, how come it felt like it was just a moment?
Tao Tao tilted his head. The man beside him glanced around to make sure no one else was there before looking down at Tao Tao with some disdain and saying, "Your cultivation level isn't good enough to do things for me."
"Ayan? It really is you!" But Tao Tao didn't listen to what he said at all, and directly transformed into a small white beast and pounced on him.
Again.
Bai Yan couldn't help but shake his head, reached out and pressed her fluffy little head, and lifted her up. Seeing that she was being controlled, Tao Tao was not willing to give in. With a "poof", she transformed back into human form and kept flailing her arms at Bai Yan.
Was the decision we made back then the right one?
Even a certain True Dragon Ancestor began to doubt his choice.
"Alright, stand still. I'll teach you a set of techniques, but with your current cultivation level, you can probably only master the first level. However, even the first level is enough to save your life in a crisis."
Bai Yan's voice was very pleasant, like the gentle murmur of a mountain spring. Tao Tao was dizzy from listening to it. Her mind was filled with Bai Yan's true dragon essence blood, and she didn't care what he was saying. After Bai Yan released her, she tried to rush towards him, but Bai Yan immediately froze her.
"Did you understand what I said?" Bai Yan was unusually patient and didn't lose his temper, otherwise Tao Tao would probably have been chopped into pieces.
"Mmm." Tao Tao couldn't move, so she had to give up and nodded with a pitiful expression.
"Alright, you can learn from me. If you can't learn it within an incense stick's time, I'll skin you alive."
His casual remark terrified Tao Tao, her little face filled with fear. How could Bai Yan, with that stunningly handsome face, utter such vicious words?
"If you have no objections, come with me." Bai Yan, expressionless, picked up Tao Tao and led him to a mountain spring. He then put Tao Tao down, stretched out his hand, and a stream of spring water fell into his palm. Gradually, the coldness rose and turned into three icicles, which hung above his palm.
Immediately, he unleashed a palm strike, sending ice shards hurtling through the air and striking the large rock opposite him. The rock shattered into pieces instantly, demonstrating its immense power.
Since joining the sect, Tao Tao hasn't learned any substantial skills, mainly because she only thinks about eating all day long. She's either going to this mountain to raid bird nests or going to that stream to catch fish, and she hasn't studied at all.
However, since demon beasts are different from humans and have all sorts of strange cultivation methods, she might even be able to improve her cultivation by eating like this. In addition, everyone in the Immortal Spirit Valley dotes on her and basically never asks her to do anything. That's why she hasn't made any progress in fifty years.
Bai Yan wasn't in a hurry at first, since he had plenty of time and there was no rush to search for her soul. But fifty years had passed and Tao Tao was still the same as before. She had no way to deal with dangers on several occasions. If she were to perish, wouldn't all his efforts have been in vain?
The True Dragon Ancestor wouldn't do a losing business, so he had no choice but to appear in a clone to give her some pointers.
"Come, follow me and learn. I have already taught you the incantation. Just do it." Bai Yan has never taken on any disciples. Although he is supported by the Yanhan Sect, he only teaches the Dao and imparts knowledge. Naturally, he has no patience to teach people and believes that all cultivators are naturally gifted and that it will not be too difficult for them to learn.
However, Tao Tao was different. After listening to it once, she seemed to understand it, but when she actually tried to condense the water in her hands into ice crystals, she couldn't. She tried it repeatedly, but nothing happened.
Bai Yanjun frowned, expressing his confusion, "With your talent, you shouldn't be like this. Did you not put in the effort?"
"I tried my best!" Tao Tao protested. She had never been this attentive when her master taught her how to fly on a sword, but she just couldn't learn it. How could water possibly turn into ice?
"Still trying to argue." Bai Yan's expression was stern. With a flick of his finger, the spring water surged out, forming a large net that instantly swallowed Tao Tao and quickly closed, transforming into a giant water sphere that enveloped her inside.
Then Bai Yan snapped his fingers, and thousands of ice crystals instantly pointed at the water sphere where Tao Tao was. At this moment, Bai Yan only needed to move his finger to kill Tao Tao.
This scene made Tao Tao's hair stand on end, and he stood there frozen, not daring to move.
Her fear was what made it effective. Bai Yan smiled slightly, and ice formed an ice chair behind him. He sat down lazily, suspended in mid-air, and casually reminded him, "You won't suffocate in the water sphere, but if you can't form ice shards within the time it takes for an incense stick to burn, then these ice shards around you will immediately attack you and take your life in an instant."
After saying that, Bai Yan waved his hand, and a candle made of ice appeared not far in front of him, with a ghostly blue flame burning on it. The extremely cold flame was a rare treasure even in the Immortal Realm, and he actually used it to light an ice candle. It was too extravagant.
"I understand." Even if Tao Tao was naughty, she wouldn't dare to go against Bai Yan. The difference in strength was obvious, and besides, the cold killing intent emanating from the surroundings made her tremble all over. She didn't believe that Bai Yan was just scaring her.
"Let's begin then, you don't have much time left."
Bai Yan revealed a faint smile, yet it gave off an inexplicable chill.
"Oh." Tao Tao nodded weakly, carefully recalling the method Bai Yan taught her, and began to do it exactly as instructed.
Just as the ice candle was halfway burned, the surrounding cold air reached a critical point, and even the spring water was instantly frozen. Bai Yan slowly lifted his eyes to look at the water sphere, and an incredulous expression appeared on his exquisite face.
This little guy actually froze himself inside...
