Chapter 159 Truck Hits Person
Zhu Ziqing raised her head, looked at Tan Haoyu, and a hint of hesitation flashed in her eyes.
"But……"
"No buts." Tan Haoyu interrupted her, his tone leaving no room for argument.
“I’m glad you came to see me.”
Zhu Ziqing's heart skipped a beat, and a blush rose on her face.
"OK then."
Zhu Ziqing's hand was held tightly in Tan Haoyu's palm.
I couldn't help but feel a warm, comfortable sensation.
She looked up at him, a smile playing on her lips.
"Are you sure it won't interfere with your work? What if your boss finds out you're slacking off during work hours? Will he dock your pay?"
Tan Haoyu looked down at her, a hint of helplessness in his eyes.
"Work is never-ending."
He squeezed her cold hand, his brow furrowing slightly.
"It's so cold, why didn't you wear something warmer when you went out?"
Zhu Ziqing stuck out her tongue, her tone playful.
"I love to look good, but wearing too many clothes doesn't look good."
Tan Haoyu shook his head helplessly, took off his suit jacket, and draped it over her shoulders.
"Put it on, don't catch a cold."
Zhu Ziqing was taken aback for a moment, and tried to refuse.
"No need, you wear it yourself, I'm not cold..."
"Listen to me." Tan Haoyu's tone was domineering and left no room for argument.
"I'll be worried about you if you catch a cold."
Zhu Ziqing blushed slightly, feeling a surge of warmth in her heart.
She looked down at her coat and suddenly smiled, "Then... you can hold my hand, that way I won't be cold."
Tan Haoyu smiled and took her hand, half-embracing her as they walked forward.
Is this warm enough?
Zhu Ziqing leaned against him, and a romantic idea suddenly popped into her mind—
If only we could keep going like this forever.
Tan Haoyu's coat was draped over her shoulders, making her appear even more slender and petite.
Their figures intertwined in the sunlight, creating a heartwarming scene.
However, at that moment, a car suddenly went out of control and rushed towards them!
"Watch out!" Zhu Ziqing's pupils contracted, and she instinctively pushed Tan Haoyu away.
"Haoyu, get out of the way!" Zhu Ziqing's voice pierced the air, sharp and urgent.
Tan Haoyu stumbled a few steps after being pushed by her. When he turned around, his expression changed drastically.
"Ziqing! Watch out!"
Zhu Ziqing's body was like a fallen leaf, hit by the speeding car and thrown heavily onto the flower bed a few meters away.
The car crashed violently into the wall, making a deafening noise.
The wall was smashed open, leaving a large hole, and debris scattered everywhere.
Zhu Ziqing was thrown out by the carriage and crashed heavily to the ground.
Her body tumbled like a kite with a broken string, rolling several times before stopping.
Tan Haoyu staggered a few steps, steadied himself, and turned around, his pupils suddenly contracting.
"Ziqing!" he shouted, his voice filled with unprecedented panic.
Time seemed to freeze at that moment, and all Tan Haoyu could hear was the heavy, rapid beating of his own heart.
He rushed forward, but his steps felt like they were made of lead, each step so heavy it made him feel suffocated.
He reached out to Zhu Ziqing, but could only watch helplessly as she fell into a pool of blood, powerless to save her.
"Why...why couldn't I stop her..." Tan Haoyu clenched his fists, his nails digging deep into his palms, blood dripping from between his fingers.
Zhu Ziqing's calf was cut by the sharp edge of the flower bed.
Blood gushed out like a spring, staining her trouser legs red and also staining Tan Haoyu's eyes red.
Her face was as pale as paper, her lips trembled, but she couldn't utter a sound.
"Ziqing! Ziqing!" Tan Haoyu knelt beside her, his hands trembling as he tried to touch her, but he was afraid of hurting her.
His voice was hoarse, filled with endless regret and self-blame.
"Why did you push me away...why..." His eyes were red, tears welling up, but he stubbornly refused to let them fall.
Zhu Ziqing's breathing was weak, but her eyes remained gentle.
She struggled to raise her hand and gently stroked Tan Haoyu's cheek, managing a weak smile.
"Don't...don't cry..." Her voice was so soft it was almost inaudible, yet it was like a knife, piercing Tan Haoyu's heart.
“I’m fine…really…” she tried to comfort him.
Before she could finish speaking, another sharp pain struck, her brows furrowed, and cold sweat slid down her forehead.
Tan Haoyu felt as if an invisible hand was gripping his heart tightly, the pain almost suffocating him.
He hated himself, hated himself for not being able to protect her, hated himself for always hurting her.
"Ziqing, stop talking... I'll take you to the hospital right away..." His voice was deep and firm, carrying an unquestionable command.
Zhu Ziqing's hand slipped limply to the ground, and Tan Haoyu grabbed it, holding it tightly in his palm.
Her hands were icy cold, as if they might slip out of his grasp at any moment.
"Haoyu..." Her voice was weak, but tinged with relief, "It's good that you... are alright..."
Tan Haoyu felt as if something was blocking his throat, and he couldn't make a sound.
He could only hold her hand tightly, as if that would snatch her back from the clutches of death.
"Don't talk... save your energy..." His voice was hoarse, filled with endless tenderness.
Zhu Ziqing's lips curled up slightly, her eyes gentle yet firm.
She gently touched his brow, trying to smooth out his furrowed brow.
"Don't...worry...I...I'm really okay..." Her voice grew weaker and weaker until it was almost inaudible.
Tan Haoyu felt as if his heart was being torn apart, the pain making it almost impossible for him to breathe.
He knew she was comforting him, and he knew her injuries were serious, yet he had no choice but to accept her lies.
"Ziqing...don't sleep...don't sleep..." His voice trembled, filled with endless fear.
Tan Haoyu's eyes suddenly turned sharp. He stood up abruptly and swept Zhu Ziqing up in his arms.
Her body was as light as a feather, yet it made him feel heavier than ever before.
"Yang Piaoliang! Liu Meili! Follow me!" His voice was cold and authoritative, carrying an unquestionable command.
Yang Piaoliang and Liu Meili were intimidated by his imposing manner and quickly followed.
Tan Haoyu's steps were steady and swift, as if each step was on the tip of a knife.
Zhu Ziqing's consciousness gradually faded, and the scene before her eyes began to become blurry.
She tried to open her eyes wide, but could only see Tan Haoyu's tense jaw and his deep eyes.
His eyes were cold and sharp, yet they carried a hint of panic and fear she had never seen before.
"Haoyu..." Her voice was so weak it was almost inaudible.
"How are you? Don't scare me!" Tan Haoyu looked down at her, his eyes welling up with tears.
Zhu Ziqing lay on the ground, her vision blurred.
She opened her mouth, but no sound came out.
Tan Haoyu knelt beside her, his hands trembling as he checked her breathing.
"Ziqing, hang in there, the ambulance is coming soon!"
Zhu Ziqing's consciousness gradually faded, and all she could hear was Tan Haoyu's anxious voice.
"Haoyu..." she murmured softly, then everything went black and she lost consciousness completely.
"Don't be afraid... I'm here..." Tan Haoyu's voice was deep and firm, filled with endless tenderness.
Zhu Ziqing's vision went black, and she finally couldn't hold on any longer, falling into a complete coma.
