Chapter 198 Testing and Approaching
Chapter 198 Testing and Approaching
At seven o'clock sharp, Lin Chuyue entered the agreed-upon restaurant. Her long black dress accentuated her slender figure, and her slightly wavy long hair fell naturally over her shoulders, adding to her gentle and graceful demeanor. She glanced around and saw that Li Zhanchuan was already seated by the window, his long, slender fingers lightly tapping the table, his gaze deep and thoughtful.
Noticing her arrival, Li Zhanchuan slowly raised his eyes, his gaze lingering on her for a moment before he smiled slightly, stood up, and pulled out a chair for her: "You're here."
Lin Chuyue nodded gently, sat down gracefully, casually placed her bag aside, and smiled, "It seems you're more punctual than I am."
Li Zhanchuan's deep voice carried a hint of sarcasm: "I wouldn't dare keep President Lin waiting."
Lin Chuyue was amused by his words, picked up the menu, and carefully flipped through it. Li Zhanchuan, however, did not rush to order, but quietly looked at her with a gentle inquiry in his eyes.
"How was your day?" he asked first, his tone casual yet showing concern.
Lin Chuyue looked up and met his deep eyes, and said softly, "Everything is under control. The board of directors has stabilized. Although there are still many problems, at least it is developing in the direction I want."
Li Zhanchuan nodded slightly, his slender fingers tapping lightly on the table, as if deep in thought. After a moment, he said in a low voice, "Has Wang Peng made any moves lately?"
Upon hearing this name, Lin Chuyue's eyes darkened slightly, and she slowly said, "He contacted me and revealed some things about Shen Fang. It seems that Shen Fang won't be back anytime soon, but she won't let this go."
Li Zhanchuan narrowed his eyes, a faint sneer curling at the corner of his lips: "Shen Fang won't be content. The more she loses, the stronger her counterattack will be."
Lin Chuyue put down the menu and looked at him firmly: "No matter what she does, I will not give her any more chances."
A hint of admiration flashed in Li Zhanchuan's eyes. He nodded and said in a low voice, "I believe you can do it."
The two were silent for a moment before the waiter approached to ask what they wanted to order. Lin Chuyue casually ordered a few dishes she liked, while Li Zhanchuan didn't look at the menu and directly ordered a few dishes she usually ate.
Lin Chuyue looked at him with some surprise: "How did you know I like these things?"
Li Zhanchuan smiled faintly, his eyes revealing a hint of doting: "If you pay attention for a long time, you will naturally remember it."
Lin Chuyue paused for a moment, a strange emotion welling up inside her. She lowered her head, pursed her lips, and said nothing more, but a gentle light appeared in her eyes.
The food was served, and the two ate and chatted in a relaxed and natural atmosphere. Li Zhanchuan would occasionally put food on her plate, speaking in a calm and unhurried tone, while Lin Chuyue was no longer reserved, occasionally responding with lighthearted jokes, like old friends, familiar and in sync.
Halfway through the meal, Li Zhanchuan suddenly said softly, "Lin Chuyue, have you ever thought about completely letting go of the past and starting over?"
Lin Chuyue paused slightly with her chopsticks, looked up at him, and asked with a hint of inquiry, "You mean?"
Li Zhanchuan looked at her calmly, his gaze deep: "No longer be bound by the hatred of the past, give yourself a future that truly belongs to you."
Lin Chuyue remained silent for a moment, a complex emotion surfacing in her eyes. She said softly, "Some things can't be let go of just like that. My life can never go back to the way it was."
Li Zhanchuan didn't press further, but said in a low voice, "Whatever your choice, I will support you."
Lin Chuyue's heart skipped a beat. She looked up at him, a barely perceptible hint of emotion flashing in her eyes. She took a deep breath and said slowly, "Thank you, Zhanchuan."
The two exchanged a smile, and at that moment, a kind of unspoken understanding seemed to quietly emerge between them.
After the meal, Li Zhanchuan drove her home. When the car stopped downstairs at her apartment building, he didn't leave immediately. Instead, he turned to look at her and said softly, "Get some rest, don't overwork yourself."
Lin Chuyue nodded gently, opened the car door, and before getting out, she suddenly turned back and whispered, "You too."
Li Zhanchuan was slightly taken aback, then revealed a faint smile, watching her figure disappear at the apartment entrance. The light inside the car illuminated his deep features, and his eyes held unspoken emotions.
He murmured softly, "Lin Chuyue...you will gradually accept me."
The car slowly drove away into the night, and Lin Chuyue stood by the window, watching the departing headlights, a ripple involuntarily rising in her heart.
